Academy Park was supposed to open the Del Val League portion of its schedule at home Saturday morning, but that game has been postponed and tentatively moved to Monday night at Chichester’s Apichella Field at 7 p.m., AP coach Jason Vosheski confirmed via text on Friday.
All athletic events involving Academy Park teams this weekend were postponed or canceled due to a possible threat on school grounds, according a notice on the Southeast Delco School District website. The district closed all schools and offices and canceled transportation and extracurricular activities out of caution after receiving a notice from the Safe2Saypa.org website.
In football action Friday:
Episcopal Academy 42, Hill School 21 >> T.J. Cadden made sure the Churchmen got off to a fast start. He returned the opening kickoff 81 yards for a touchdown to help EA jump out to a 35-7 halftime lead.
It was the first of two touchdowns for Cadden. The junior wide receiver also hauled in a 31-yard scoring pass from quarterback Jake Fant in the second quarter.
Senior running back Andrew McMeekin scored three times, all on short runs in the first half. He had a two-yard TD burst in the first quarter, and two- and three-yard plunges in the second period. Zeke Kane added a seven-yard TD jaunt in the third quarter for the Churchmen (3-0).
La Salle 44, Haverford School 0 >> The Explorers defense was too much for the Fords. La Salle stopped the Haverford School at every turn to record its second shutout of the season. The Explorers (4-0) have allowed just 15 points through the first four games.
The offense was solid, too. La Salle scored twice in the final five minutes of the first half to take a 31-0 lead into the locker room. Noel Henry pulled in a 15-yard pass from Alan Paturzo and Ryan Moore returned a punt 45 yards for a touchdown.
Sam Brown paced the attack with two touchdown runs for La Salle.
In other action, Downingtown West scored a 48-0 nonleague victory over Penn Wood.
