Emma Iacobucci scored both goals as the Patriots nipped the Phantoms in overtime in the first game of the annual Route 29 Series Saturday morning at Valley Stadium.
The first half went scoreless. Then Iacobucci scored at the 22:12 mark of the second half to give Great Valley the lead. Phoenixville’s Brogan Heisey knotted the score on a blast at the 2:44 mark off a penalty corner with a feed-in from Katie McErlean. That forced the overtime session with Iacobucci scoring at the 12:12 mark.
Phoenixville goalie Caroline Costello made 11 saves while Great Valley’s Erin Kratzer had four stops. Penalty corners belonged to Great Valley, 14-7.
The contest marked the first game for Phoenixville under new head coach Dani De Leo, the former head coach at Merion Mercy Academy.
