Reporter/Times Herald Roundup (Oct. 21): Lansdale Catholic opens season with win over Roman Catholic

The Lansdale Catholic boys soccer team opened its season with a victory Wednesday, Jack Edling scoring twice as the Crusaders defeated Roman Catholic 3-1 in their PCL matchup at Trifecta Sporting Club.

Matt McDougal also had a goal for LC.

GIRLS SOCCER

Gwynedd Mercy 4, Mount St. Joseph 0 >> Isabella Fiore and Hailey Morris both finished with a goal and an assist as Gwynedd Mercy claimed an AACA shutout victory

The Monarchs scored twice in the first half — Fiore making it 1-0 in the 34th minute with Halle Coller doubling the advantage five minutes later off a Morris assist. Morris pushed GMA’s lead to 3-0 in the 65th minute with Fiore finding Kaylie Griffin for a goal in the 78th minute.

Gwynedd Mercy goalkeepers Grace Galbreath and Lynley Koschineg combined on the shutout, Galbreath making five saves.

FIELD HOCKEY

Wissahickon 3, Pennsbury 0 >> Aiden Drabick had a pair of assists, Sophia Havrilla collected a goal and an assist and Wissahickon shut out visiting Pennsbury for an SOL nondivision win.
 
Drabick assisted on the game’s opening goal from Ella Hummel at 10:35  in the first quarter then recorded her second helper as Havrilla put the Trojans (9-3-0, 7-3-0 SOL Liberty) up 2-0 at 5:17 in the third. Kendal Williams made it 3-0 off a Havrilla assist in the fourth.

Alli Wood made four saves as Wissahickon posted its eighth shutout.

Archbishop Carroll 2, Phoenixville 1 (OT) >> Karli Dougherty pulled Archbishop Carroll even in the fourth quarter then in overtime found Nicole Pawlec at the left post for the game-winner as the Patriots rallied for the nonleague victory.

Sienna Golden assisted on Dougherty’s goal while Carroll keeper Courtney Keith made eight saves. Nicole Thompson scored for Phoenixville with Phantoms goalie Gianna Chiponis stopped eight shots.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Central Bucks West 3, North Penn 0 >> Alexis Barklage had 10 kills, two blocks and two digs while Brie Livezey finished with nine kills, three aces, two digs and a block as Central Bucks West swept North Penn 25-15,25-22, 25-19 for a Senior Night victory.

Maggie McCusker collected 25 assists, five digs, four kills and a pair of aces for the Bucks. Jada Reichwein added 10 digs, eight kills, two aces, Jordyn Klementovich finished with 11 digs, three aces and two assists while Emily Holyk had 12 digs, one kill and one ace. Ashley Pellegrini had five digs and an ace with Magda Videva recorded two aces.

Perkiomen Valley 3, Methacton 2 >> Isabel Clauhs had 17 kills, 14 digs, two blocks and three blocking assists as Perkioimen Valley held off Methacton for a five-set  (25-23, 26-28, 25-14, 15-25, 15-10) PAC victory.

Naomi Clauhs collected 12 kills, 17 digs, 15 assists and two aces for the Vikings while Abby Souder made 14 digs and Ashley Bolan had 10 digs and a pair of aces.

For Methacton, Alli Hazlett finished with 17 kills, three blocks and two digs, Melinda Eglinton had 13 kills, 27 digs and an assist while Meghan Haftl recorded 45 assists, 13 digs and three aces. Emma Ginther made 40 digs to go with two aces with Mandy Baldwin totaling 29 digs, four kills and two aces.

Andria Santangelo chipped in 11 kills and five digs for the Warriors with Kayla Ginther posting nine kills, eight digs and three aces.
