Reporter/Times Herald Field Hockey Roundup: Upper Dublin rallies from 3 goals down to beat Abington

Upper Dublin 4, Abington 3 >> Abington was up 3-0 in the second quarter and still led 3-1 entering the fourth but Upper Dublin scored three times in the final period — Maisie Hanson’s goal with 1:44 remaining off a Mikayla DeMichele assist completing the comeback win in Wednesday’s SOL Liberty Division contest.

Hanson and Allie Rock both finished with a goal and an assist as the Cardinals (3-2-0, 3-2-0) snapped a two-game losing skid.

Olivia Dougherty scored twice for Abington (2-4-0, 2-4-0).

Jenn McCarry’s goal off a Rock assist pulled the Cardinals within 3-2 at 8:22 in the fourth while Annabel Coplan pulled UD even with 3:30 left.

Abington went up 2-0 in the first quarter on goals from Dougherty (12:20) and Aly Campbell (2:38). The Galloping Ghosts extended their margin to three on Dougherty’s second strike at 6:30 in the second quarter.

Rock scored with just three seconds in the half off a Hanson helper to make it 3-1.

Springfield-Montco 2, New Hope-Solebury 1 >> Anya Kochanowicz recorded a goal and an assist as visiting Springfield edged New Hope-Solebury to take firm control of the SOL Freedom Division.

Ella Marino broke the scoreless tie at 2:17 in the third on assists from Kochanowicz and Kate Wojeck. Kochanowicz proceeded to make it 2-0 Spartans (5-0-0, 5-0-0) with 8:46 to go in the fourth. 

Sophia Cozzia scored for New Hope-Solebury (3-2-0, 3-2-0) on a corner with 3:03 left.

Springfield goalie Erin Roy collected six saves while Lauren Corrado had four defensive saves for the Spartans, who lead the Freedom with 15 points. SOL newcomers New Hope and Lower Moreland sit tied for second with nine points.

Wissahickon 3, Hatboro-Horsham 0 >> Wissahickon got three goals from three different players as it bounced back from its first loss by shutting out Hatboro-Horsham in their SOL Liberty matchup.

Aiden Drabick struck for the opening goal at 7:22 in the first quarter off a Caroline Kirkpatrick assist while Ella Hummel put the Trojans (6-1-0, 5-1-0) up 2-0 with her score assisted by Kendal Williams at 1:17 in the second quarter.

Avery Mullin added Wiss’ third goal at 1:12 in the fourth thanks to Kendal Crowley’s assist.

Hatboro-Horsham (0-5-1, 0-5-1) goalkeeper Raven Hiller had nine saves while the Trojans’ Alli Wood stopped four shots.

Plymouth Whitemarsh 9, Quakertown 1 >> Ava Borkowski and Kaleigh Missimer combined to have a hand in eight of Plymouth Whitemarsh’s nine goals — Borkowski scoring four times while Missimer had three goals and an assist in the SOL Liberty Division win.

Alex DeLucca and Hailey Copestick each added a goal while Molly Lunch had an assist for the Colonials (6-0-0, 6-0-0) who led 6-1 at halftime. PW goalie Sarah Trask made one save.

North Penn 2, Central Bucks West 0 >> Eleni Kountroubis and Erin O’Donnell each had a goal while Mallory Stowell stopped four shots as North Penn earned its second shutout win over Central Bucks West this season.

Kountroubis put the Knights (3-3-0, 3-3-0 SOL Liberty) ahead 1-0 at 7:05 in the first quarter on a play that began with a pass into the circle from Maddie Waldspurger.

In the third, O’Donnell doubled the NP advantage on a corner at 12:24 with Bay Detweiler collecting the assist.

Dock Mennonite 4, Delco Christian 0 >> Celeste Derstine posted a goal and an assist as Dock Mennonite remained undefeated with its six straight Bicentennial Athletic League shutout.

The Pioneers (6-0-0, 6-0-0 league) scored twice in the first quarter — Derstine with the opening tally on a corner at 12:02 off an Ainsley Moyer assist while Kylie Godshall made it 2-0 at 2:41. 

 Eden Schrag’s goal assisted by Erin Miles at 2:01 in the second quarter as Dock took a 3-0 advantage into halftime. Derstine assisted on Olivia Veltre’s goal with 19 seconds in the fourth.

Casey Harper and Haley Harper combined on the shutout with Casey Harper making a two saves.
