Quaile’s goal makes the difference for Haverford

Shannon Quaile buried a penalty stroke to break a scoreless tie in the second half and lift Haverford to a 1-0 Central League field hockey victory over Springfield Thursday.

Quaile’s goal came 11:30 into the second half. It was the only time that the Springfield defense was breached, thanks in large part to 18 saves from goaltender Nora Larkin.

Also in the Central League:

Garnet Valley 7, Upper Darby 0 >> MaryRose Berry scored a pair of unassisted goals, while Tina Rawa added two assists, one of which was to Kendall DiCamillo in the first two minutes of the game.

Rawa’s second assist went to Theresa Ricci, who scored her first varsity goal for the Jaguars (14-0, 8-0).

Alivina Yousha made 16 saves for the Royals.

Lower Merion 7, Ridley 2 >> Corrine Stratton assisted on Kyle McNicholas’ goal then found the back of the net herself for the Raiders. Jordan Polillo made five saves in the loss.

Conestoga 9, Penncrest 0 >> Goaltender Audrey Bassett recorded 18 saves against the Pioneers, who had 27 shots on goal.

In the Del Val League:

Chichester 1, Interboro 0 >> Gab MacDonald kept the Bucs in this one with five saves including one on a penalty stroke.

Sophia Amalfitano claimed the win in net for the Eagles with three saves.
