Reporter Field Hockey Roundup: Wissahickon tops Hatboro-Horsham on Ball’s late goal

Grace Ball gave the Wissahickon field hockey team a last-minute victory Friday, scoring with just 51.1 seconds left in regulation off a Hannah Havrilla assist as the Trojans edged Haboro-Horsham 2-1 in their SOL American contest.

Ball also assisted on Lauren Donofrio’s goal at 17:38 in the first that gave Wissahickon (1-1-0, 1-1-0 conference) a 1-0 lead. The Hatters’ Katie Schmidt tied the game at 19:51 off an assist from Abby Bosen.

Morgan Kirby made seven saves for Hatboro-Horsham (1-2-0, 1-1-0) while Trojans goalie Meghan Reilly had one save.

Germantown Academy 4, Archbishop Carroll 2 >> Jordan Roche had two goals and an assist, Catherine McFadden scored twice and Germantown Academy held off Archbishop Carroll to win the battle of the Patriots.

GA (1-1) led 1-0 at halftime and pushed the margin to 3-0 before the Carroll pulled within one on goals by Grace O’Neill and Julia Kingsbury. Roche, however, struck for her second tally to give GA a two-goal cushion. 

Plymouth Whitemarsh 3, Springfield-Montco 2 >> Springfield rallied to tie twice in the SOL American matchup but Kaleigh Missimer scored off a corner in the second half to give Plymouth Whitemarsh the win.

Ava Borkowski had a goal and assist while Hailey Copestick also added a goal for the Colonials (2-0-0, 2-0-0 conference. PW goalkeeper Sarah Trask made five saves.

Ella Marino scored both goals for the Spartans (1-1-0, 1-1-0) with goalie Rebecca Beglund recording eight saves.

Upper Dublin 2, Cheltenham 1 >> Peyton Kullman broke a 1-1 tie at 13:39 in the second half off a Jenn McCarry assist as Upper Dublin topped Cheltenham.

McCarry also had a goal, giving the Cardinals (2-1-0, 1-1-0 SOL American) a 1-0 lead at 18:59 in the first half. Elsa Nguyen pulled the Panthers (0-2-0, 0-2-0) level at 10:38 before halftime with Emma Feral earning the assist. 

Cheltenham goalie Mayanah Kelly stopped five shots with UD keeper Rhianna Gonzales finishing with one save.

Dock Mennonite 6, Morrisville 0 >> Kylie Godshall scored the first two goals as Dock went out to a 5-0 halftime lead as it rolled past Morrisville

Elizabeth Longacre, Ainsley Moyer, Sarah Curry and Judy Ding all added a goal for the Pioneers (2-1-0, 2-0-0 BAL).

Bridget had Morrisville’s goal while Jessica Wooding had 13 saves for the Bulldogs. Dock’s Casey Harper (0 saves) an Haley Harper (4 saves) combined for the shutout.
