Franz, defense fire up Sacred Heart

Mary Rose O’Donnell and Kelli McIntyre turned in a strong defensive effort in front of goalie Coleen Vissar as Sacred Heart blanked St. Basil, 6-0, in Catholic Academies field hockey action Thursday.
Emiy Franz paced the offense with two goals. Vissar made six saves.
In the Central League:
Radnor 10, Upper Darby 0 >> Catherine Lowry powered the Raiders with three goals and one assist. Ava Jacobsen chipped in with two goals.
Ridley 3, Strath Haven 2 >> Hanna Crowley tallied twice to pace the Green Raiders. Kathryn Capalbo handed out two assists for the Panters.
Penncrest 3, Garnet Valley 1 >> Willia Thompson found the back of the cage twice for the Lions, while Ellie Sims tallied once. Taylor Romaniello scored the only goal for the Jags.

Harriton 4, Marple Newtown 1 >> Gia DeAngelis had the lone goal for the Tigers, while Olya Fleddarman made three defensive saves.
In the Bicentennial League:
Jenkintown 2, Delco Christian 1 >> Slyssa Maldonado converted a pass from Allie Zubyk in the second half to spoil Jenkintown’s shutout bid. Goalie Ana Yee made 13 saves for the Knights (0-2).
In nonleague action:
Chichester 3, Pottstown 2 >> Freshman Marissa Rybak tallied twice, including the winner in overtime. Hayley Fritz picked up the assist on the winning score, while Haley Smercula had the other goal for the Eagles (1-2).
