All-Delco Field Hockey: Tornetta’s scoring prowess makes her a three-time choice

In addition to player of the year Margaux Paolino of Episcopal Academy, the 2015 All-Delco field hockey team includes:

Maddie Bacskai, Episcopal Academy: The senior center back and All-Delco repeater was a four-year starter who helped EA to undefeated league championships as a junior and senior. She earned all-league honors three times, missing only as a sophomore, when she had knee surgery. The Princeton commit had 14 goals and 12 assists this fall.

Riley Dolan, Bonner-Prendergast: The junior All-Delco repeat selection assisted on the winning goal as she helped the Pandas defeat Archbishop Carroll for the first time since 2009 to qualify for the Catholic League playoff final. She finished the season with 20 goals and 35 assists. She is a factor on both ends of the field with her technical skills, drawing extra coverage on attack and shutting down opponents on defense. She has committed to the University of Delaware.

Makayla Gallen, Cardinal O’Hara: A junior two-time All-Delco, she helped the Lions earn the Catholic League championship, getting one goal and setting up two in the playoff final win over Bonner-Prendergast. She was named the Catholic League’s most valuable player. She was among the area leaders with 22 assists and has committed to the University of Virginia.

Tess Horan, Haverford: A senior midfielder who has committed to Drexel University, she earned All-Central League honors for three consecutive seasons. She scored 24 goals and added 14 assists as the Fords advanced to the second round of the district tournament and finished with 54 career goals and 36 career assists. A leader on and off the field, she displayed great stick skills and an eye for the goal cage.

Rosie Kalis, Agnes Irwin: The senior goalie and four-year starter who has committed to Miami (Ohio) University helped the Owls qualify for the Pennsylvania Independent Schools title game for the first time. She has continued to learn her position while developing the defensive line in front of her on the field.

Quinn Maguire, Notre Dame: A junior and two-time All-Delco selection, she earned all-league honors for the third year in a row. She is a team leader whose strong work ethic sets the example for her teammates. She scored three goals in an Inter-Ac League victory over Agnes Irwin. She is a defensive leader against penalty corners, turning stops into chances at the attack end of the field with her speed and effort.

Mary Kate Neff, Notre Dame: A three-year starter, she has a strong knowledge of all the intricacies of the game and is very passionate about playing. She is a member of the U-17 national team and has played at a very high level against quality opposition, earning all-league honors for two consecutive years. She scored three goals in a victory over Archbishop Carroll.

Sam Swart, Archbishop Carroll: A junior midfield who will attend Syracuse University to play lacrosse, she made her presence felt on attack with her speed and hard drives as well as on defense as Carroll placed second in the Catholic League to Cardinal O’Hara in the regular season. She set up both goals as the Patriots won a PIAA Class AA opening-round game.

Julianna Tornetta, Agnes Irwin: A junior Princeton commit and three-time All-Delco selection, she was among the area leaders with 47 goals scored, including the 100th of her varsity career, and also had eight assists. She got six goals in a game against Hill School and scored the winner in a victory at Cardinal O’Hara. She is a U-21 Team USA player who made big plays at both ends of the field with her skills and highly developed sense of the game for the PAISAA runner-up Owls.

Courtnie Williamson, Episcopal Academy: A three-year starter who helped EA to its third Inter-Ac League title in four years, she displayed great speed and quickness on defense and was a threat on the penalty corner attack, getting eight goals and five assists while making eight defensive saves. She will play at North Carolina.

Corinne Zanolli, Episcopal Academy: A junior three-year starter, she scored 24 goals and added 13 assists as EA completed another undefeated Inter-Ac League season. She knocked in three goals in the Pennsylvania Independent Schools final win over Agnes Irwin after getting three goals in the semifinal round game. The U-19 national player has committed to Stanford University.
