Delco Christian gets to play a little Moore

Delco Christian stayed in the District One playoff mix Tuesday night for another two days, thanks in large part to Madison Moore’s heroics.

Moore’s go-ahead goal with 10 minutes, 25 seconds left to play handed Delco Christian the lead for good — and helped the Knights advance in a 3-2 defeat of Springfield (Montco) in a District One Class AA first-round field hockey matchup Tuesday night.

Moore added an assist, while Kieran Thompson and Abby McManus chipped in goals for the eighth-seeded Knights. Maggie Linton and Ava Berzinsky also dished out assists, while Jamie Madison stopped six Springfield shots in goal.

The Knights will face No. 1 Villa Maria in a quarterfinal tilt Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

Agnes Irwin 9, Penn Charter 0: Agnes Irwin blitzed Penn Charter for seven first-half goals en route to the shutout win.

Sophia Tornetta netted four goals while Julianna Tornetta followed suit with a hat trick.

Heather Crosby and Sydney Wolfington also scored for the Owls (15-2, 7-1 Inter-Ac), while Lucie Maguire, Sophia Tornetta and Crosby posted one assist apiece. Rosie Kalis stopped 14 shots in net.

Notre Dame 8, Springside Chestnut Hill 0: Quinn Maguire enjoyed a hat trick and dished out three assists to lead Notre Dame (7-4-1, 5-2 Inter-Ac) in its blanking of Springside Chestnut Hill. Marykate Neff added a goal and two assists, while Amanda Odgers, Sarah Bowles, Kristy Graurer and Tina D’Angollel all chipped in scores for the Irish.
