Mercury Roundup (Sept. 27): Methacton, Boyertown girls volleyball earn crossover sweeps

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Methacton 3, Pope John Paul II 0

HIGHLIGHTS: The Warriors swept Monday’s PAC crossover contest with set scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-13.

Methacton was led tonight by Mel Eglinton with 16 kills, 2 blocks and 4 assists, Kayla Ginther with 8 kills and Meg Haftl with 33 assists.

Boyertown 3, Owen J. Roberts 0

HIGHLIGHTS: The Bears swept Monday’s PAC crossover contest with 25-20, 25-21 and 25-7 wins.

Adrianna Derstine (23 kills, 2 aces, 2 blocks, 6 digs), Allison Pioli (31 service points, 5 aces, 4 kills, 5 digs), Emma Smith (9 digs), Grace Rinehimer (34 assists), Carly Little (7 kills), Mya Hummel (6 digs) and Kyra Neiswender (6 digs) were among the Bears’ statistical leaders.

Ellie Kalbach (17 assists), Caroline Halsey: (12 block assists), Meghan Touhey (9 kills) and Bridget Kowalski (6 digs) were statistical leaders for OJR.

Spring-Ford 3, Upper Merion 1

HIGHLIGHTS: The Rams knocked off the Vikings in four sets (11-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-14) in PAC crossover action Monday.

Senior Ally Plitnick (31 Assists, 14 Digs),  freshman Lauren Angelucci (11 Kills) were two of the Rams’ leaders. Junior Kylie Michal played an almost perfect match with nine kills on 11 swings with no errors. Other standouts for Spring-Ford were

Senior Faith Hudon (6 Aces, 4 Kills, 12 Digs), junior Sara Fritzinger (9 kills), senior Camryn Elsner (22 digs) were other standouts for the Rams.

Non-League

Perkiomen Valley 3, West Chester Rustin 0

HIGHLIGHTS: The Vikings cruised to a three-set (25-22, 25-9, 25-21) win in non-league action Monday.

Lilah Maus (4 aces.11 kills, 12 digs), Naomi Clauhs (7 kills, 2 blocks, 10 assists, 14 digs), Lola Coulter (5 kills) and Lauren Haflett (2 blocks) led PV.

FIELD HOCKEY

Boyertown 2, Owen J. Roberts 0

HIGHLIGHTS: Goal by Alyx Morgan and Lauren Eves helped the Bears to Monday’s PAC Liberty win — the Bears’ first win over the Wildcats since Sept. 12, 2016.

BOYS SOCCER

Upper Perkiomen 2, Pottsgrove 0

HIGHLIGHTS: Nick Aron scored off a corner sent in by Matthew Fisher to open scoring five minutes into the second half then added another off a through ball from Logan Watkins with seven minutes remaining to put away the Indians’ PAC Frontier win Monday.

HIGHLIGHTS: Ava Leaman had a role in all three goals, tallying two goals and an assist in Pottsgrove’s PAC Frontier win Monday.
