Garnet Valley springs upset of Radnor in Central League boys soccer tournament

There was a major upset in the Central League boys soccer tournament Tuesday.

No. 7 Garnet Valley earned a trip to the semifinal round with a 3-0 victory over second-seeded Radnor.

Hunter Buchy scored the game’s first goal, and Matt Neeson found the back of the net to give Garnet a 2-0 advantage. Kris Henning added an insurance goal after halftime.

Goalkeeper Chase Woolard made a key save on a breakaway in the first half.

Radnor faltered in the league tournament after dominating the regular season with a 9-0 record. Goalies Juaquin Cohen and Jack Herry made two saves apiece.

Elsewhere in the Central League quarterfinals:

Conestoga 5, Strath Haven 0 >> The No. 9 Panthers were no match for the top-seeded Pioneers, who scored four goals in the opening half and never looked back.

Harriton 1, Marple Newtown 1 >> The fifth-seeded Rams outlasted the No. 4 Tigers on penalty kicks, 7-6.
