Mercury Lacrosse Roundup: Spring-Ford outlasts Pope John Paul II

Spring-Ford 16, Pope John Paul II 13 >> The four-goal efforts of Cassie Marte and Jill Quigley keyed the Rams in their PAC divisional crossover victory over the Golden Panthers Wednesday.

Behind Marte and Quigley, Spring-Ford also benefited from Liv Yeagle’s hat trick. Kallan Bustynowicz scored a game-high six goals for PJP.

Boyertown 14, Easton 10 >> Kristi Kada scored four goals to lead the Bears past the Red Rovers.

Ashley Dierolf, Ali Pioli, Kasey Roberts and Liz Tamasitis chipped in with pairs of goals to help Boyertown withstand Easton’s second-half charge after it built a 6-3 lead in the first half. Kasey Fox had five of the Bears’ eight goalkeeper saves, the other three recorded by Sarah Didget.

Hill School 12, Westtown 3 >> After a sluggish first quarter, the Blues exploded for six goals in the second to open up an 8-0 halftime lead and never looked back. Hill’s faceoff men won 15 of 17 draws, allowing the locals to control the game’s pace and apply stifling offensive pressure. Hill managed all facets of the transition game and utilized a balanced, patient offensive attack and consistent goaltending. Nolan Smith paced Hill with three goals, followed by Ryan Long (two goals, one assist), Carter Straub (two goals), and Aidan Dunn (two goals).
