Wong, DeAngelo, Ingraham named All-State

As District 1 champions, Sun Valley had a historic boys basketball season. Ditto Bonner & Prendergast, which played for its first state title.

Tuesday, three players from those teams earned first-team all-state nods, as voted by members of the media.

Sun Valley guard Vinny DeAngelo, who averaged 22.8 points per game in guiding the Vanguards to the District 1 Class 5A title and quarterfinals of the state tournament, is on the first team in Class 5A.

In 4A, the Friars’ Isaiah Wong lands on the first team for a second straight year. The Miami signee averaged 21.9 points per game for B&P, which won the city title in Class 4A and lost to Imhotep in the state final. (The Panthers had two first teamers, including Player of the Year Donta Scott, and a second-teamer.)

Joining Wong on the first team is Bonner & Prendie teammate Tariq Ingraham, the Wake Forest-bound forward who averaged 11.4 points per game this season.

DeAngelo, Wong and Ingraham were all first-team All-Delco selections.

Jameer Nelson Jr. of The Haverford School was named to the second team in Class 5A. His Fords teammate and Daily Times boys basketball Player of the Year Christian Ray was ineligible for all-state consideration as a fifth-year senior.

Archbishop Carroll’s Luke House landed on the second team in Class 4A, while Delco Christian’s Jackson Piotrowski was a second-team pick in Class 2A.
