Starr lives up to his name as Garnet Valley outlasts Upper Darby

Garnet Valley’s upset of Lower Merion last week showcased the Jaguars’ scoring depth.

But Tuesday, the Jags showed that when they need to, they can rely on their big scoring guns. Brandon Starr scored what is believed to be a school record 46 points to power the Jaguars past Upper Darby, 73-67, in overtime.

Starr hit 13 baskets and was 18-for-21 from the charity stripe. He scored six of the team’s 11 overtime points.

Austin Laughlin added 16 points for the Jags (4-1, 2-1 Central League). Laughlin tied the game in the final 10 seconds of regulation with a three for Garnet, which didn’t lead until the extra session.

Noah Walker led Upper Darby with 24 points. DaShaun Brown added 15 points, and Magd Adelwehab added 14 for the Royals (1-2, 1-2).

Also in the Central League:

Strath Haven 76, Springfield 67 >> John Harrar led the way with 26 points, but the supporting cast lifted Haven to victory. Jeffrey Conner scored 17 points, and Peter Foggo added 11 for the Panthers (4-1, 2-1).

Great Orjih scored 20 points, and Kyle Long added 10 points and eight assists for Springfield (3-1, 2-1). Alex DeAngelis and Kyle Sullivan poured in 11 points each.

Penncrest 59, Harriton 54 >> Tyler Norwood scored 19 points, but a career night from Chris Mills (16 points, eight rebounds) steered the Lions past Harriton.

Mike Mallon added 11 points for Penncrest (4-2, 3-0), which joins Conestoga, a 72-69 winner over Lower Merion in overtime Tuesday, as the Central’s lone remaining unbeaten teams.

Marple Newtown 48, Radnor 46 >> Mark Dever tallied a game-high 18 points and Mike May added 11 as the Tigers (2-3, 1-2) stretched their win streak to two.

Mason Ressler scored 12 points for Radnor (1-4, 0-3). Phil Regan added 11 points and Sami Ghazzi had 10.

Ridley 56, Haverford 38 >> Damir Fleming went off for 25 points, and Jimmy Bramwell scored 21 as the Green Raiders (2-2, 2-1) hit 10 3s on the night.

Dan Roe led Haverford (0-5, 0-3) with 13 points, while Matt Gillen chipped in eight.

In nonleague action:

Haverford School 73, Cristo Rey 35 >> Christian Ray poured in 17 points, Kharon Randolph added 15 and Asim Richards and Bobby Stratts got in on the act with 10 apiece for the Fords (6-1). Richards added 10 rebounds.

Avon Grove 50, Interboro 48 >> Albert Pewa scored 14 points, Nate Murtha added 13 and Carley Jones contributed 11, but the Bucs fell just short.

In the Bicentennial League:

MaST Charter 60, Christian Academy 52 >> Jalen Sherrill scored 18 points, and Davier Daniels added 11 for TCA (3-2, 2-1).

Jenkintown 63, Delco Christian 57 >> Jordan Parks scored 25 points, but it wasn’t enough for the Knights (3-2, 1-1). T.J. Tann added 14 points, and Tyler Penley contributed 11.

In the Ches-Mont League:

W.C. Rustin 56, Sun Valley 36 >> Marvin Freeman led the way with 18 points for the Vanguards.
