Reporter Boys Basketball Roundup: Wissahickon wins 4th straight; Souderton, PW, GA earn victories

Wissahickon 43, Upper Moreland 39 >> Matt Compas collected eight of his game-high 26 points in the fourth quarter as Wissahickon made it four wins in a row by edging Upper Moreland in Tuesday’s SOL American matchup.

Compas had seven points in each of first two quarters as the Trojans (7-8 5-2 conference) took a 29-22 lead into halftime.

Tyler Ibbotson led Upper Moreland (8-4, 3-4) with 14 points while Byron Hopkins recorded 12 points. The loss was the second straight for the Golden Bears.

Souderton 62, Quakertown 53 >> Brian Reiner scored a game-high 20 points as Souderton jumped out to a 22-3 lead after a quarter then held off a Quakertown surge in the fourth to earn an SOL Continental win.

Jason Price posted 19 points while Evan Kutzler added 15 points for the Indians (9-6, 3-3 conference), who led 47-25 at the end of the third before Quakertown collected more than half of their points (28) in the fourth.

Luke Bauer paced the visiting Panthers (0-13, 0-6) with 18 points while Jack Hollowell had 13 points. 

Plymouth Whitemarsh 65, Hatboro-Horsham 39 >> Luke DiCanno finished with 20 points as Plymouth Whitemrash rolled to its third straight victory.

Caelin Peters collected 18 points while David Harris added 14 points for the Colonials (6-8, 5-2 SOL American). The loss dropped Hatboro-Horsham to 1-12 (0-7 SOL American).

Germantown Academy 68, Penn Charter 58 >> Germantown Academy got big fourth quarters from Casey Traina and Jordan Longino as the Patriots pulled away for the Inter-Ac win.

Traina collected 12 of his 22 points in the fourth while Longino posted 10 of his game-high 29 points in the final period as GA (10-6, 2-1 league) earned a second straight victory. Longino and Traina both knocked down four 3-pointers in the contest.

Aaron Reisman paced Penn Charter (5-10, 0-3) with 17 points. The Quakers’ Mark Butler scored 10 of his 16 points in the first half while Trey Shinholster finished with 10 points.

Penn Charter pulled to within 43-42 after three quarters but the Patriots outscored the Quakers 25-16 in the fourth.

Bensalem 63, Central Bucks East 59 >> Bensalem’s James Ashford finished with a game-high 25 points as the SOL National leading Owls stretched their winning streak to eight by besting host Central Bucks East.

Joe Jackman had 18 points for the Patriots (9-7, 3-3 SOL Continental), who trailed 29-21 at halftime but pulled to within 45-43 entering the fourth. Bensalem, however, outscored East 18-16 int the final quarter. 

Chris Charlton hit three 3-pointers in scoring 13 points while Jack Hamilton chipped in 11 points as East dropped its second straight. Travis Robinson collected 14 points for the Owls (12-1, 6-0 conference) with Aaron Sanders adding 10 points.

Morrisville 47, Jenkintown 42 >> D’Andre Auten and Jaden Fogg combined to score 17 of Morrisville’s 19 points in the third quarter as the Bulldogs took a six-point lead in the fourth and went on to best Jenkintown for a third straight win

Auten posted 11 of his game-high 21 points in the third while Fogg finished with 10 points for Morrisville (5-9, 4-5 BAL Constitution). 

Clinton Jackmon led the Drakes (2-11, 2-5 BAL Constitution) with 16 points while Jadan Welch added 13 points. Jenkintown held a 24-20 lead at halftime.
