Higgins hits for 21 as Bonner-Prendie makes final

For a second time in as many weeks, Dylan Higgins led the way for Bonner-Prendergast Monday night. This time, the Friars needed all 21 of his points.

Higgins tied a career-high for scoring, set just eight days ago, and added six rebounds to help Bonner outlast Phoenixville, 72-69, in overtime at the Marple Newtown Holiday Tournament.

Christian Lane and Keith Washington each added 15 points, and John Hargraves posted a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds as the Friars (6-2) booked passage to Tuesday’s final against Bishop Shanahan at 5 p.m.

In the other game at the Marple Newtown Tournament:

Bishop Shanahan 63, Marple Newtown 45 >> Nick DiCamillo scored 10 points, and Marcus Weathers added nine, but the Tigers (1-8) fell, landing in the consolation game against Phoenixville at 1:30.

At the Varsity Club Tournament:

Garnet Valley 69, Archmere Academy 36 >> Andrew Louden drained four 3-pointers for a game-high 19 points, and Austin Laughlin added 18 as the Jaguars (6-2) rolled into Tuesday’s final at 6:30 p.m. against Lansdale Catholic.

Lansdale Catholic 59, Sun Valley 49 >> Kyle Ryan scored 16 points, and Wali Sabree (13) and Ryan Hall (12) also landed in double-figures, but the Vanguards (3-6) will meet Archmere in the consolation game at 1:30 p.m.

At the Great Valley Holiday Tournament:

Strath Haven 52, Great Valley 46 >> Alex Ischiropoulos scored 17 points, none bigger than the 6-for-6 effort at the line down the stretch that maintained the Panthers’ cushion.

Jahmeir Springfield added 10 points for Strath Haven (8-2), which is forced to meet a league foe in Harriton, a 63-59 winner over Avon Grove, in Tuesday night’s final at 7:30.

At the Penncrest Holiday Tournament:

Penncrest 64, Calvary Christian 34 >> AJ Taylor hit 12 baskets to finish with 25 points to go with nine rebounds, helping the Lions (7-4) convert 15 of their first 17 field-goal attempts of the second half to put the game out of reach.

Tyler Norwood added 13 points. The hosts meet Cheltenham, which doubled up Henderson, 70-35, in Tuesday’s final at 7:30 p.m.

At the Primetime ESCIT Christmas Tournament:

Archbishop Carroll 80, Allentown 34 >> Ryan Daly continued his torrid streak with 28 points and nine rebounds, earning tournament MVP honors as the Patriots (9-0) throttled their opposition from New Jersey at Trenton Catholic Academy.

Josh Sharkey added 10 points and eight assists for Carroll.

At the Walt Katuzny Memorial Tournament:

Radnor 68, Masterman 47 >> Vinnie Kelly scored a game-high 22 points, and Mason Ressler and Vernon Harper each chipped in 14 points as the Raiders (6-3) rolled to the title game in their home tourney. They’ll face Collegium Charter, which vanquished New Media Tech, 76-62, in Tuesday’s final (7 p.m.).

At the Dick Dougherty Memorial Tournament:

Northeast 60, Delco Christian 59 >> Wyatt Harkins scored 23 points, and Grant Fischer used three 3-pointers to tally 17 points, but turnovers cost the Knights a five-point halftime lead in Bensalem.

The Knights (4-3) will meet Bicentennial foe Bristol, which fell to the host Owls, 69-48, in the consolation game Tuesday afternoon at 6.

At the Over the River Holiday Classic:

New Hope-Solebury 55, Christian Academy 44 >> Jalen Sherrill scored 13 points, and Davier Daniels added 10, but the Crusaders (2-6) are confined to the consolation game Tuesday at 3:45 against Pennsauken Tech.

At the William Allen Tournament:

Allentown Central Catholic 53, Springfield 39 >> Kyle Sullivan scored a team-high 17 points and Kyle Ryan chipped in eight, but the Cougars (3-8) couldn’t keep pace, landing in the consolation game Tuesday at 5:30 against GAR Memorial.
