Guy’s late 3-pointer lifts Garnet Valley past Radnor

Danny Guy didn’t make a basket for 31 minutes Thursday. But he chose the perfect time to step up in a big way.

Guy’s corner triple with 25 seconds left put Garnet Valley up for good in a 48-47 Central League win over Radnor.
Connor O’Brien, who hit three 3-pointers and scored 13 points, did the job defensively on the final possession, blocking an attempt by Sami Ghazzi to preserve the Jaguars’ victory at home.

Austin Laughlin and Brandon Starr led Garnet Valley (9-4, 5-3) with 16 points apiece. Starr supplemented his with eight rebounds and four assists.

Ghazzi led Radnor (4-8, 1-7) with 12 points. Mason Ressler and Phil Regan chipped in nine apiece.

Also in the Central League:

Penncrest 51, Ridley 47 >> Tyler Norwood scored 34 points, including 15 of Penncrest’s 21 in the fourth quarter as the Lions (11-2, 8-0) won for the 11th straight time.

Liam Thompson posted a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds for Ridley (5-7, 3-5), which received 10 points from Damir Fleming.

Marple Newtown 50, Haverford 37 >> Mark Dever scored 12 points, Mike May added nine and Luke Cantwell and Carmen Christiana supplied eight apiece as five Tigers (4-8, 2-6) connected on 3-pointers.

Trey Blair scored 10 points as Haverford (1-11, 0-8) narrowed the deficit to two points late in the third quarter.

Lower Merion 69, Springfield 57 >> Ja’Den McKenzie paired 16 points with seven rebounds, and Justin Collins scored 10 points to go with five blocks and four assists, but the Cougars (6-6, 4-4) didn’t have the firepower to keep up.

Kyle Sullivan added 11 points, and Mike Webb poured in nine.

Jack Forrest led Lower Merion with 22 points.

Harriton 62, Upper Darby 53 >> Bayir Hodges scored 14 points, and Magd Adelwehab added 11, but a 21-2 deficit in the second quarter doomed the Royals (1-9, 1-7).

In the Del Val League:

Glen Mills 70, Academy Park 61 >> Kenyon Cooper scored five of his 22 points in the two overtimes as the Battlin’ Bulls survived in a tight game at home.

James Timmons added 20 points, and Kenyon Cooper chipped in 12 for Glen Mills (6-4, 2-0).

Nick Simmons scored 14 points, Nasiem Harley added 13 and Shermik Lofton 12 for AP (6-4, 1-1).

Chester 85, Interboro 28 >> A balanced attack led coach Larry Yarbray to his 200th career victory with the Clippers.
Jahmeir Springfield tallied a season-high 20 points. Ahrod Carter added 18 points and a career-best seven boards.

Jaimhy Evans chipped in 11 points, and Brian Randolph III paired nine points with nine rebounds for Chester (8-2, 2-0).

Penn Wood 71, Chichester 53 >> Vincent Smalls scored 17 points, Sharif Goff added 15 and Pernell Ghee 14 as Penn Wood (4-5, 1-1) snapped a two-game skid.

DaQuan Granberry (3-8, 0-2) led Chichester with 25 points.
