Episcopal’s Dade tops 1,000-point mark in loss to Penn Charter

Matt Dade notched a personal milestone Tuesday, but the final result for the Episcopal Academy senior was bittersweet.

Dade tallied a career-high 35 points to surpass the 1,000-point threshold in his career, but he didn’t get much help offensively as EA fell to Penn Charter, 60-56.

Dade hit 14 baskets, including two 3-pointers. But he was the only Churchman in double-figures in a game where EA led by 13 points after one quarter but couldn’t hang on. Colin Chambers chipped in nine points, but Alex Capitano tallied a season-low four for the Churchmen (8-8, 1-1 Inter-Ac).

Also in the Inter-Ac League:

Haverford School 54, Germantown Academy 53 >> Christian Ray hit two free throws in the final four seconds to seal a home win for unbeaten Haverford. Ray finished with 16 points.

Jameel Brown scored eight of his team-high 22 points in the fourth quarter for the shorthanded Fords (14-0, 2-0), missing two starters for the game.

In the Central League:

Radnor 51, Garnet Valley 39 >> Lewis Robinson scored 21 points (10 in the fourth quarter) to go with five rebounds and six assists as the Raiders (7-4, 4-2) won their fourth straight. Jack D’Entremont added eight points and 11 rebounds.

Neel Beniwal paced Garnet Valley with 13 points. Tyler Pendergrass and Cade Brennan provided nine apiece for the Jags (8-3, 4-2).

Upper Darby 61, Harriton 49 >> Diby Keita buried four 3-pointers to notch 25 points, and Mamadou Toure was 13-for-17 from the line to compile 17 points as the Royals (3-6, 2-4) busted out of a shooting funk to break a four-game skid.

Penncrest 42, Ridley 36 >> Malcolm Williams scored 18 points, and Isiah Rice added eight to lead the Lions (9-2, 6-0) to their third straight win.

Malachi Williams scored 10 points to pace Ridley (5-5, 1-5).

Haverford 42, Marple Newtown 37 >> Danny Roe scored 18 points, including two late free throws to seal the win. Jake Ruane added eight points, John Schievert chipped in seven and Sean Reynolds came up with three steals in the fourth quarter for the Fords (5-4, 3-3).

Tommy Gardler led Marple Newtown (4-7, 2-4) with 13 points, and Aziz Khammassi added 11 for the Tigers.

Lower Merion 73, Springfield 41 >> M’khai Pryor tallied a career-high 16 points to go with five rebounds, Brian Ward scored 10 points and Nasir Cryor dished four assists to go with four points, but the Cougars (0-11, 0-6) fell thanks in large part to 15 points by Lower Merion’s Steve Payne.

Conestoga 48, Strath Haven 38 >> Ibo Pio scored 14 points and Luke Edwards added 10, but the Panthers fell.

In the Del Val League:

Penn Wood 57, Glen Mills 48 >> Davantae Smith scored a game-high 23 points to pace the Patriots. Zac-Chae’us Williams added 12 points, and Shad Kyem tossed in 11 for the Patriots.

Aaron Thompson led Glen Mills (1-9, 0-1) with 14 points, while Jabriel Guinyard and Nasir Johnson added nine each.

Chester 72, Chichester 49 >> Karell Watkins led all scorers with 16 points, Fareed Burton added 11 and Rahmaad DeJarnette augmented his eight points with stifling defense to keep Chi’s leading scorer Josh Hankins without a point.

Michael Smith scored 10 points, and Akeem Taylor paired his 10 points with 10 rebounds for Chester (5-4, 1-0).

Jamese Lundy-Byrd led the way for Chichester (1-10, 0-1) with 14 points.

Academy Park 70, Interboro 42 >> Shermik Lofton paired 16 points with eight rebounds, Jalen Cassidy canned four 3-pointers for 15 points and Naseim Harley paired eight points with five assists and five blocks as the Knights (7-2, 1-0) rolled.

Alec Wood led Interboro (1-10, 0-1) with 13 points, and Damon Dukes supplied 11.

In the Bicentennial League:

New Hope-Solebury 53, Delco Christian 39 >> Tyler Rossini scored 12 points and Jacob Bronkema added 11, but the Knights (5-4, 2-3) fell in a game where they were missing leading scorer Jackson Piotrowski.
