Mark Quatrani hit for the cycle in The Haverford School’s 17-5 nonleague victory over Hill School.
The third baseman was 5-for-5 with a single, double, triple and home run. He had six RBIs and five runs scored.
Connor Scanlan (three runs), Cole Donnelly (three runs), Patrick White (two RBIs), Brendan Touey, Jaidyn Rivera (two doubles) and Joey Pennewill all had multi-hit games. Ian White (nine strikeouts) was the winning pitcher.
In the Ches-Mont League:
Sun Valley 4, Great Valley 3 >> Pat Willey singled home Justin Hickman in the sixth inning to give the Vanguards a 3-2 lead. Will Newnom had an insurance run with a sacrifice fly.
Josh Lillis hurled 5.2 innings with eight strikeouts to get the win. Paul Miazza recorded a four-out save.
In the Central League:
Penncrest 9, Harriton 3 >> Gavin Brown tossed five innings of two-hit ball with seven strikeouts as the Lions won their season opener. Nico Tozzi and Kris Farnan slugged two hits each, Kaleb Merendino doubled in two runs, and Jake Koenig added a hit and two RBIs.
Marple Newtown 7, Springfield 3 >> Aiden Pearson busted the game open for the Tigers with a bases-clearing double in the fourth inning. Paul DeFruscio was 3-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI. Jack Maholick pitched four solid frames to get the win.
Matt Bean crushed a home run for the Cougars.
Ridley 5, Upper Darby 1 >> Jimmy Stranix was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a pair of stolen bases for the Green Raiders. Ryan McNichol smacked an RBI triple and Dan Stickney supplied a run-scoring hit. Winning pitcher Mike Happersett recorded six strikeouts and allowed no runs on two hits over five innings.
In the Catholic League:
Cardinal O’Hara 6, La Salle 4 >> Kevin McGuire’s two-run double in the seventh inning propelled the Lions past the Explorers. Jimmy Coppock, Paul Daly, and Kevin McGuire all had two-hit games. Pat Ahearn tossed five solid innings to get the win and Kevin King picked up the save.
In the Del Val League:
Interboro 19, Penn Wood 3 >> The Bucs erased a one-run deficit in the fifth inning thanks in part to clutch homers by Kai Napier, Shane West, Vinny Milbert and Owen Shempf.
Chester 17, Academy Park 7 >> Key hits from Brandon Colon, Jamai “Bobby” Brown and James Carr helped lead the Clippers to victory over the Knights.
Softball
Ava Shaner delivered the game-winning hit in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift Springfield past Marple Newtown, 4-3. Shaner and winning pitcher Payton Feeney both finished 3-for-4.
Ryleigh Frye belted a home run for the Cougars. Shauna Kerrigan led the Tigers with three hits, including a double, and two RBIs.
Elsewhere in the Central League:
Garnet Valley 4, Haverford 2 >> GV ace Anna Sidlowski pitched a complete game with 13 strikeouts. Zoey Rogers paced the Jaguars at the plate with two hits and two runs scored. Emily Orsini, who doubled, and Jenna Fulmer each had an RBI. Shannon Gavigan was 3-for-3 with two runs scored for the Fords.
Strath Haven 14, Radnor 2 >> Maya Grande was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and reached base five times at the top of the order for the Panthers. Avery Smith (RBI, run scored) and Ella Liberi (two RBIs, run) both had three hits.
Freshman Annika Slootmaker threw a five-inning complete game with seven strikeouts.
Ridley 16, Upper Darby 0 >> The Green Raiders had 18 hits led by Sofia Fiore (3-for-3) and Maddie Gordon (3-for-4, two RBIs). Hailey McMenamin doubled, tripled and drove in four runs, while Addison Najmola contributed a pair of singles. Gemma Taggart (seven strikeouts) went the distance from the circle.
In the Ches-Mont League:
Sun Valley 8, Great Valley 0 >> Abby Gawne collected three hits and three RBIs in support of winning pitcher Jordyn Skarren, who mowed down 12 hitters en route to the shutout. McKenna Ogurko had three hits for the Vanguards.
In nonleague play:
Interboro 11, Mount St. Joseph 7 >> Winning pitcher Jules Bergen (six Ks) helped her cause with two hits and three RBIs. Erin O’Shea contributed three hits and two RBIs for the Bucs (2-2).
Boys Lacrosse
Luke Melito scored the deciding goal late in the second half as Cardinal O’Hara earned an 8-7 decision over Conwell-Egan. Goalie Nick Hanna (nine saves) made a stop with 5.6 seconds to go to preserve the O’Hara win.
Dillon DiBattista and Ryan Crowley recorded hat tricks for the Lions. Mike Kutufatis pitched in with a goal, 10 groundballs and went 5-for-7 on faceoffs.
Episcopal Academy 11, Gilman 10 >> Jake Manion (two assists), Lucas Slate, TJ Lamb and John Malone all scored two goals for the Churchmen. Nick Wolff had four assists and goalie Jack Guido made 12 saves.
Girls Lacrosse
Dayana Allen netted six goals and Tay’viarra Sudler scored five as Academy Park bested St. Hubert, 12-5, for its first win of the season.
Manatee Togba stopped eight shots in goal for the Knights. Izzy Krautheim excelled with six groundballs, two caused turnovers, two draw controls and one interception.
In the Central League:
Penncrest 20, Lower Merion 6 >> Kathryn Harding (two assists) and Kate Stanton (four draw controls) tallied four goals apiece to lead the Lions past the Aces late Tuesday. Lylah Pompetti produced three goals, five assists and two ground balls. Adisyn Bernhart and Reese Bigler also recorded hat tricks.
Boys Tennis
Brady Huggett, Flynn Hollinger and Jatin Prabhaker won their singles matches to lead Penncrest over Haverford, 6-1.
Freshmen Chrisitan Hyun and Zackary Powers battled to a 5-7, 6-1, 11-9 win at fourth doubles for the Fords.
