Mercury Baseball Roundup (May 5): Big inning sends Owen J. Roberts past PV; Boyertown breaks through late

With three players driving in multiple runs Wednesday, the Wildcats pulled away from the Vikings to win this PAC Liberty Division matchup.

Sam Morris, Ethan Sabatino (3-for-3) and Grant Reitz each had two RBI in helping Owen J. score five times in the top of the third to build a 6-1 lead.

Starting pitcher Zach Brockner struck out five in five innings before Morris and Dean Mihos combined for two frames of two-hit relief.

Boyertown 6, Methacton 4

The Bears came on strong in the late innings of Wednesday’s PAC Liberty Division game, overtaking the Warriors in their final at-bat.

Scoring five times in the sixth, Boyertown erased Methacton’s initial 4-1 lead. Evan Hetrick, pitching the final three frames in relief of Cole Hertzler, who got the win by holding the Warriors to a hit and walk while striking out four.

Jonathan Myers’ RBI single in the sixth gave the Bears the lead for good.
