Collings’ triple makes a winner out of Marple Newtown’s Mathes

Marple Newtown’s Cameron Mathes and Haverford’s Nicholas DeFeo were locked in an old-fashioned pitcher’s duel Monday.

Mathes came out on top, thanks to a little help from his younger brother, Alden and Ricky Collings.

Collings tripled home Alden Mathes in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Cameron Mathes and the Tigers a 2-1 victory over the Fords in Central League baseball action.

Cameron Mathes scattered six hits and Alden scored both runs.

DeFeo allowed just three hits while Nick Cerelli drove in the only run for Haverford.
