Thomas’ timely knock lifts Academy Park

Chris Thomas came through with the go-ahead, two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning as Academy Park defeated Chichester, 5-3, in a Del Val League contest Saturday.

Mike Brodzinski swung a hot bat the entire day, going 3 for 3 with two RBIs and a pair of runs scored for the Knights (4-2, 3-1).

Dominic Lomanco pitched a complete game with five strikeouts.

In the Central League:

Garnet Valley 7, Ridley 5 >> Garnet Valley scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning after Ridley plated four runs in the top half.

Liam Bendo scored twice and Dominic Berton was 1 for 3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.  Will Wesolowski got the win by pitching two spotless innings in relief of starter Matt Lupoli (seven Ks).

Strath Haven 5, Penncrest 2 >> David Moore started the game for Strath Haven and pitched four innings, allowed two runs (no earned), gave up three hits and struck out six. Evan Atsaves picked up a three-inning save and only surrendered one hit while striking out four. Atsaves and Casey Rosier both had two-run doubles.

Conestoga 15, Haverford 7 >> Cole Humes banged out three singles and Luke Marmer had a pair of RBIs for the Fords, who dug themselves a 6-0 hole in the first inning.

In the Ches-Mont League

Sun Valley 6, Kennett 3 >> Casey Crockett and Vinnie Carter supplied the power with RBI doubles to lead the Vanguards (4-2). Dave Montella gave up no earned runs and struck out five over five solid innings to pick up the win.  Nick Wright added a two-run single.

In the Bicentennial League:

Delco Christian 11, Faith Christian 6 >> Five of the Knights starters collected two hits, including birthday boy Luke Butler, who was 2 for 3 and reached base three times. Kyle Winters and Cody Moorhatch both rapped doubles and DC’s infield turned two double plays behind winning pitcher Tyler Rossini.

In nonleague action:

Episcopal Academy 4, Archbishop Ryan 2 >> Will Park needed only 55 pitches to hurl a complete game with seven strikeouts and one earned run allowed.  Park received offensive support from AJ Lotsis, who knocked in two runs with a triple. Kyle Virbitsky also tripled[toggle title=””]…[/toggle] and drove in a run, while Jack O’Reilly went 2 for 3 with a run scored.

Haverford School 7, Archbishop Carroll 3 >> Nick Holtz smashed a home run and James McCannon went 2 for 4 with a double for the Fords, who jumped out to a 7-0 lead after four innings. Winning pitcher Mike Warnick hurled five innings with seven strikeouts while allowing just one hit.

Jack Downs had a double, an RBI and a run scored for the Patriots.

Plumstead Christian 4, Christian Academy 2 >> Brit Haseltine had an RBI single and a sacrifice fly for the Crusaders (0-4). In taking the loss, Jake Sitkowski pitched five strong innings with 10 strikeouts.
