Kendra Williamson blistered the field at the Penncrest Invitational Saturday, clocking in at 18:33.80 to win the girls varsity race by nearly a minute.
Second across the line was Avon Grove’s Lily Schindler in 19:41.90, but it was nowhere near the speed of the EA sophomore.
Haverford’s Ryan Dankanis was fourth in 19:51.40, two seconds ahead of teammate Micah Haskins. Allie Pavone and Lizzie Getz gave Marple Newtown a pair of top-10s, in eighth and ninth, respectively. EA’s Hannah Todd was 10th.
Ryan Kaiser of Neshaminy won the boys race in 15:45.00, six seconds ahead of the host’s Rowan Carr. Edomias Mulugeta was third and Nick Fante fifth for Penncrest.
Teddy Foster of Haverford was fourth in 16:29.70. Julian Bothma of Marple Newtown was sixth, and Penn Wood’s Joshua Esters was seventh.
At the Briarwood Invitational:
Springfield’s Sophia Kurtis finished fifth at Belmont Plateau at 21:27.66. Springfield finished fourth as a team.
Strath Haven’s Sophie Jackson finished 11th in 22:04.11. Erica Rainford of Ridley was 19th. Haven was sixth in the team standings with Ridley eighth.
On the boys side, Ridley’s Jackson Kane (17:15.20) was the top individual finisher from Delco in 15th. Olma Matthewos was 21st.
At the George School Invitational:
Notre Dame senior Mary Rossano covered the course in 19:11.20 to finish fourth. Teammate Carson Tierney was ninth in 19:37.20.
The Irish were seventh as a team. Agnes Irwin was fourth, with Emma Watson (19:54.30) leading a cluster of three straight finishers across the line in 12th place.
Episcopal Academy’s Curtis Conner and John Ricketts finished eighth and ninth, respectively, in the boys race. Conner went 16:24.90 to best his teammate by 7.3 seconds. Ethan Zhou was 16th as the Churchmen finished third.
Girls Soccer
Ryan Ertel set up second-half goals by Anna Reger and Olivia Jacobs to lead Radnor to a 2-0 win over St. Hubert. Kenzie Warren posted the shutout.
Volleyball
Penncrest won twice in a tri-match with Sun Valley and Interboro, topping Interboro 3-0 and Sun Valley, 3-1. Ai-Linh Nguyen led Penncrest with six aces against Interboro, a 25-5, 25-7, 25-11 win. She had 35 assists across both games, with 10 digs in the 25-11, 25-11, 22-25, 25-15 win over Sun Valley.
Lilly Kirkpatrick had nine aces against Interboro and 14 kills against Sun Valley. Anna Mita had seven aces against Interboro and 18 assists, eight digs, six kills and four aces against Sun Valley. Adrianna Roach had 25 kills, while Maddy Klodarska frustrated Sun Valley with 21 digs.
Sun Valley also swept Interboro behind seven aces and six assists from Jaelyn Crowder. Anna Dougherty had 11 digs and three kills in the Penncrest match. Abby Jane Gawne notched five kills against Interboro.
In other nonleague action:
CCSA 3, Penn Wood 1 >> Shirley Arce had a run of 18 consecutive service points in the fourth set to lead the Sabers to victory. Arce also had 11 assists and four kills.
Azhae Fryson had five kills and five digs, Ma’Niyah Evans had four kills.
Field Hockey
Cailin Kennedy scored twice, and Dani Jeffries had a goal and an assist as Sacred Heart topped Interboro, 4-2. Emma Donnelly also scored for the Lions.
Wyoming Area 1, Agnes Irwin 0 >> Lily Hark made 11 saves, but the Owls fell in overtime. Sara Davis, who split time in goal, made four saves.
Boys Soccer
Goals by Maks Kurpul, Landon Hickman and Ethan Wunder led Sun Valley to a 3-1 win over Collegium Charter.
Austin Jennings made nine saves in goal.
