Boys Soccer

Spring-Ford 2, Perkiomen Valley 1

Brendan Read’s first career varsity goal off an assist from Pat Clemens with 15 minutes remaining in the second half was the difference-maker in Spring-Ford’s exciting PAC Liberty victory. Albab Azam added a goal off an assist from Ben Resnick, and Andrew Wible made five saves in goal. The Rams also got strong defensive performances from Resnick, Grant Kaufman, Cole Croiger, Chris Collins and Sam Bodenschatz.

Owen J. Roberts 4, Methacton 0

Elijah Purtle and Andy Tzoanos each scored twice for the Wildcats, whose defense was stellar all night in holding Methacton without a shot on goal. Cole Webb and Jason Lugo-Munoz teamed up to make eight saves in goal for the Warriors.

Spring-Ford 2, Perkiomen Valley 1

Giavanna Marciano scored the first goal of the game for the Vikings off an assist by Brianna Young 4:30 into the second half, but Mackenzie Kerr tallied the equalizer six minutes later. This set the stage for Spring-Ford’s Mya Hassan to bury the game-winner off a feed from Brynn Vickery at the 33:48 mark to seal the thrilling win. Olivia Nield made nine saves in goal for the Rams, while Anna Mecouch came up with 10 in a losing effort.

Phoenixville 6, Upper Merion 1

Taylor Schneider contributed to four goals in the first half and five overall (two goals, three assists) as the Phantoms cruised past Upper Merion in a Frontier Division showdown.

Pottsgrove 10, Pottstown 0

Freshman Pottstown goalie Nicole Castillo continued her strong play in making 23 saves, but the Trojans couldn’t muster up any offense in a Frontier Division loss to Pottsgrove.

Upper Perk jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead and rallied in the second half after OJR cut the deficit in half. The Indians got two goals each from Jade Traynor and Julia Traynor, and Jade Traynor also added an assist, as did Morgan O’Hara and Burgundy Gahmon. Avery Taylor scored both goals for the Wildcats, with Mira Smolij assisting on one of them. Ryann Sanfelice made four saves for Upper Perk, while Jazz Campbell came up with 13 of her own in the loss.

Upper Merion 8, Pottstown 0

Mackenzie Davis and Peyton Becker each scored three times in Upper Merion’s rout of Pottstown on Tuesday. The Vikings also got scores from Chloe Wardlow, Carly Holbrook and Olivia Heavner. Holbrook chipped in two assists and Wardlow produced one. Nuha Siddiqui and Addie Varga teamed up in goal to record a shutout.

Methacton 7, Perkiomen Valley 1

The Warriors staked themselves to a 3-0 halftime lead and never looked back in a PAC Liberty triumph over Perk Valley Tuesday. Carmela Maro led the charge with two goals and two assists, and Nicole Walsh, Olivia Feliciani, Adriana Hopple, Elena Weychert and Lizzy Mun also scored. Walsh chipped in two assists, while Maddie McKenney made four saves in goal. Calie Junker came away with Perk Valley’s lone tally.

Phoenixville 10, Norristown 2

Phoenixville had eight goal-scorers on Tuesday, with Kylie Moore and Audrey Guido’s two leading the way. The Phantoms also got tallies from Morgan Klotzbach, Megan Cahill, Bridget Kelly, Lila Cooke, Jade Lear and Stella Khazen.

Phoenixville 3, Upper Perkiomen 2 (26-24, 25-17, 17-25, 18-25, 15-13)

Phoenixville nabbed the first two sets on Tuesday before holding off an Upper Perk rally to earn an exciting five-set victory. Kristen Brown (16 kills, 9 digs, 4 aces), Ryleigh Galbreath (6 kills, 8 digs, 2 aces), Zoe Monson (4 kills, 11 digs) and Gianna Buce (17 digs) all had big moments for the Phantoms in the triumph.

Spring-Ford 3, Perkiomen Valley 0 (25-22, 27-25, 25-18)

The Rams notched a hard-fought sweep over Perk Valley, getting 12 kills, a block and eight digs from Lauren Angelucci and 20 assists, three blocks and four aces from Marley Angelucci. Lilly Summers chipped in five blocks, while Alanna Bricker registered 20 digs and three aces.

Pottsgrove 3, Pottstown 0 (25-12, 25-4, 25-11)

Pottsgrove cruised to a straight-set victory over Pottstown on Tuesday, with Sophia Reinhart (16 service points, 7 aces) and Ava Kaufman (14 service points, 21 digs, 2 aces) leading the charge. The Falcons also got strong play from Ella Hawthorne (10 service points, 7 kills, 5 aces) and Maggie Tecce (6 service points, 9 assists).

Upper Merion 3, Boyertown 0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-23) 

Upper Merion moved to 7-0 overall and 3-0 in league play with a straight-set sweep at Boyertown on Tuesday. Sophia Schweikert had a program-record 40 kills in a three-set match, and Raven Albrecht did the same with 42 assists. Valeria Paneto had a strong performance with 11 digs, and Sydney Bright and Jade Webb helped keep the Bears off the net with superior blocking.

Pope John Paul II 3, Methacton 0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-17)

PJP got 10 service points and 12 kills from Maeve Gallagher, and Norah Busch added 13 service points and eight kills to help keep the Golden Panthers unbeaten on the season. Reece Benner had 25 assists in the victory, and Mia Mobley posted nine digs and eight service points. Haley Maloney (5 kills), Sophie Benincasa (13 digs) and Ava Maloney (8 service points) also came up big. Methacton was led by Caroline Welsh (6 kills, block) and Mianna Ly (22 digs).

Boys Golf

Perkiomen Valley 186, Upper Perkiomen 214

Alex Hall and Jacob Loladze each shot 1-under 35 at Raven’s Claw Golf Course to lead Perk Valley to a PAC victory on Tuesday. Andrew Brendlinger posted a 1-over 37, while Colby Kosak (39) and Clark Roynan (40) also had strong rounds in the win.

Owen Brozoski and Cole Pierce each shot 40s to lead Upper Perk, which also got contributions from Ben Godshall (43), Alex Moyer (45) and Jackson Long (46).

Boyertown 202, Pope John Paul II 213

Chase Dillman fired a 1-under 35 at Hickory Valley to lead Boyertown to an 11-stroke victory over PJP. Will Swartly (39), Jacob Bilotta (42), Parker Cetera (43) and Joey Bilotta (43) also shot well in the win.

Ryan McQuarrie (38) and Ryan Kelly (39) produced sub-40 rounds for the Golden Panthers. Alex Pereni (44), Reid Tornetta (45) and Beau Bliem (47) rounded out the scoring in a losing effort.

Spring-Ford 188, Upper Merion 204

Colin Ferko (36), Michael Gravinese (37), Lucas Kozak (37) and Sean McMahon (38) all shot sub-40 rounds on Tuesday at Turtle Creek to help the Rams to a PAC win over Upper Merion. Spring-Ford also got a strong 40 from Patrick Cummings.

Jack McCarthy and John Haney each shot 39 for the Vikings, who also got contributions from David Pech (40), Charlie Prendergast (41) and Cole Wellington (45).

Methacton 197, Norristown 252

Aiden Shireman’s 35 and Matt Rieger’s 38 led the charge in Methacton’s league win over Norristown on Tuesday at Jeffersonville Golf Club. Matt Baldwin (41), Paul O’Malley (41) and Brody Hydock (42) also produced strong rounds for the Warriors.

Cade Browell’s 47 led Norristown, and Johnangelo Salamone (49), Andrew Mocarsky (50), Tyler Beaver (52) and Chase Logan (54) rounded out the scoring.

Phoenixville 189, Pottsgrove 225

Phoenixville produced its best round of the season thus far thanks to stellar play from Connor Mennasion (35), Will Linko (36), Cole Geiger (39), Walker Mannon (39) and Declan McCoy (40).

Doug Raggazino and Charlie Potpinko posted identical 38s for Pottsgrove, which also got production from Carter Burg (48), Landon Bartosewicz (50) and Asher Hofstader (51).

Girls Golf

Perkiomen Valley 165, Boyertown 171

The top two teams in the PAC both brought their A-game on Tuesday at Spring Hollow Golf Course, with Perk Valley narrowly edging the Bears. Saloni Patel and Nadia Yackanicz led the charge with dueling 39s, while Julia Minder (42) and Ashley Minder (45) also turned in solid rounds.

Jordyn So led Boyertown with a 40, and she was trailed by Riley Pier (41), Hailey Schildt (44) and Hannah Adamski (46).

Phoenixville 226, Spring-Ford 228

Gabby Finger shot a team-best 54 as Phoenixville edged Spring-Ford on Tuesday at Linfield National. Ella Drewes (55), Audrey Burke (57) and Molly Kotes (60) completed the scoring for the Phantoms.

Giada Evangelista also posted a team-best 54 for the Rams, who also got contributions from Devon Armor (57), Kaelyn Kirsch (58) and Bella Cagliola (59).
