High Schools: Bonner-Prendie falls to Neumann-Goretti in semifinals

Andrew Dankanich’s walk-off single in the 11th inning lifted Neumann-Goretti to a 4-3 victory over Bonner & Prendergast in the semifinal round of the Catholic League playoffs.

The Friars tied the game at three on Irv Fisher’s RBI single in the bottom of the sixth. Ryan Friel had a run-scoring hit to put the Friars in front 1-0 in the first inning.

Harry Carr and Quinn Bryan each had two hits. Carr pitched 5.2 innings in relief of starter Johnny Ortegae.

Girls Lacrosse

Kate Dente, Maura Irish and Quinn Whitaker each recorded hat tricks as Episcopal Academy waltzed past Germantown Academy, 15-6, Tuesday in the semifinals of the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association tournament.

The wins moves EA into the final against their Inter-Ac co-champ and rival Agnes Irwin, a 12-9 winner over Penn Charter. That game is at Villanova on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Dente added two assists. Irish had a helper and four draw controls. Sydney Richter had a team-high eight draw controls, plus a goal and two assists. Avery Le and Sofia Gagliardi scored twice each, and Grace Holland made seven saves.
