Austin Havertine dazzled on the mound as No. 10 Radnor upset second-seeded Unionville, 3-1, in the quarterfinal round of the District 1 Class 5A tournament.
The sophomore ace allowed only two hits and a first-inning run en route to a complete game. He struck out five and picked off two runners at first base.
Joe Krasowski provided a two-run single to give Radnor a 2-1 advantage. Andres Cruz added an RBI double.
The Raptors travel to No. 3 Upper Dublin for Thursday’s semifinal game.
In the District 1 Class A semifinals:
Delco Christian 9, Dock Mennonite 8 >> The No. 3 Knights led 8-0 and held on for dear life.
Matteo DeBellis escaped a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh to earn the save. DeBellis also scored two runs, while Reid Darnall and Sam Dixon had two hits apiece.
Delco Christian will face top-seeded Faith Christian in the championship game Thursday at Boyertown High.
In District 1 Class 6A second-round games:
Central Bucks East 10, Garnet Valley 7 >> The 10th-seeded Jaguars trailed by nine runs after three innings and never recovered. Harrison Maull clubbed a two-run homer, and Eddie Cwiertniewicz had a solo dinger.
Neshaminy 10, Haverford 2 >> The 15th-seeded Fords couldn’t keep pace with the No. 2. Redskins, who pounded out 13 hits. Christian Cerelli went 2-for-2 with a double in the losing effort.
