North Penn 3, Souderton 2 (8) >> North Penn’s Brady Dolder tied the SOL Colonial contest 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh with his two-out, pinch-hit RBI single while Aaron Briggs’ walk-off RBI base hit in the eighth gave the Knights their fifth straight victory Tuesday.

Aaron Briggs finished 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI while Henry Wetzel was 2-for-3 with two doubles, a run scored and pitched the final two innings to earn the win for North Penn (11-5, 9-5 division).

Jeremiah Criger went 2-for-3 with two runs scored with Kevin Brace going 2-for-4.

Tyler Lutz was 3-for-4 with an RBI while Chris McKenna went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored for Souderton (7-9, 6-7), which had a four-game win streak snapped.

The Indians led 2-0 after a Lutz RBI single in the fourth and McKenna’s RBI single in the fifth. North Penn made it 2-1 as Criger scored on Ben Farley’s RBI fielder’s choice.

In the bottom of the seventh, Wetzel hit a one-out double, went to third on a sacrifice bunt then came home to tie the game when Dolder singled on the next at-bat.

Souderton has runners on second and third in the top of the eighth after an Austin Kreyenhagen leadoff single and Evan Divens’ one-out double. But an out at home on a fielder’s choice and a strikeout kept things 2-2.

Criger began the bottom of the eighth with a walk then took second on a wild pitch. A one-out intentional walk to Farley and Brace’s single loaded the bases for Briggs, who completed the Knights’ comeback with his RBI single.

Pennridge 9, Central Bucks East 6 >> Matt Atchley went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in the top of the fourth, three RBIs and scored twice as Pennridge jumped out to a 6-0 lead with three runs in each of the first two innings then held on to earn a SOL Colonial win.

Noah Keating was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored while Tommy Ginnetti finished 2-for-3 for the Rams 9-6, 5-6 division).

Atchley’s one-out solo shot gave Pennridge a 7-2 advantage in the fourth. Central Bucks East (11-5, 10-3) cut its deficit to 7-6 by scoring four times in the fifth. But the Rams added two insurance runs on a Keating RBI sacrifice fly in the sixth and Joe Gregoire’s RBI single in the seventh.

Nolan Behm had three RBIs for the Patriots.

Abington 3, Upper Dublin 2 >> Jacob Delgado’s two-RBI single in the top of the fourth pulled Abington even while Mike Judge’s RBI fielder’s choice in the sixth put the Ghosts ahead as they went on to edge Upper Dublin for an SOL Liberty win.

Nate Knapp was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored for Abington (5-9, 5-8 division), which snapped a four-game losing streak

Upper Dublin (11-6, 9-4) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first as Eric Berman, who led off with a single, scored on an error. Austin Dahl’s RBI single in the third put the Cardinals up 2-0.

Plymouth Whitemarsh 3, Hatboro-Horsham 0 >> Plymouth Whitemarsh broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the top of the seventh with Colin Brady completing a two-hit shutout to give the Colonials an SOL Liberty win.

Christian Strunk, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, put PW (14-3, 13-1 division) up 1-0 with a two-out RBI single. Three batters later, pinch hitter Tommy Baron made it 3-0 with his bases-loaded two-RBI single.

Brady struck out seven while allowing just one walk.

Jamie O’Neill hit a double for Hatboro-Horsham (8-8, 7-7).

Springfield (Montco) 4, Upper Moreland 3 >> Springfield rallied from a 3-1 deficit by scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth, Owen Hastings’ double two-RBI putting the Spartans ahead for good as they clinched at least a share of the SOL Freedom Division title.

Brett Smith pitched 6 2.3 innings to earn the win for Springfield (9-7, 8-6), allowing three runs – two earned – on five hits, walking three and striking out 11. Robert Hartman got the final out to pick up the save.

Chris Cahll scored twice for the Spartans, who have won four in a row.

Luke Sward was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored for Upper Moreland (7-10, 6-8), which lost its third straight. Jimmy Murray went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Matthew Caruso’s RBI sac fly in the first made it 1-0 Springfield before UM tied the game on a balk in the fifth. The Golden Bears took a 3-1 lead in the top of the sixth on Sword’s one-out RBI single and Murray’s two-out RBI double.

In the bottom of the frame, Springfield pulled within 3-2 as a run scored as Cahill reached on an error. Hastings followed with his two-RBI double on the next at-bat.

Central Bucks West 2, Central Bucks South 0 >> Central Bucks West scored both of its runs in the top of the fourth – Quinn Illig leadoff off the inning with a home run – while a trio of pitchers combined on a four-hit shutout in the Bucks’ SOL Colonial win.

Sam Greer got the win for West (8-8. 6-7 division), going 4 2⁄3 innings, giving up three hits and six walks while striking out eight. Carter Benson did not allow a hit or walk and struck out three in throwing 1 ⅓ innings. Ernie Sanchez earned the save after giving up a hit, walking one and striking out two in his inning on the mound.

Brett Barrett hit a double for Central Bucks South (5-9 division).

Cheltenham 12, William Tennent 2 (6) >> Fin Kopp collected a pair of doubles in going 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored as Cheltenham rolled to a fourth-straight victory.

Sam Batiancila went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored for the Panthers (7-9, 6-8 SOL Freedom) while also pitching five innings to earn the win, allowing two runs – one earned – on three hits, walking five and striking out three.

Sean Trainor was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI while Emile Chanoine had two RBis and three runs scored.

Softball

North Penn 5, Souderton 0 >> Bella Nunn struck out 14 and walked one in pitching a one-hit shutout while North Penn scored all five of its runs in the top of the fifth as it clinched at least a share of the SOL Colonial Division title with their eight win in a row.

Liv Stevens put North Pen up 1-0 with a bases-loaded RBI single while Casey Sokol followed with a two-RBI single. Three batters later, Tallie Smink connected on a two-out, two-RBI double to make it 5-0.

Sokol also doubled in going 2-for-3 for the Knights (16-2, 12-2). Stevens, Smink and Sophia Orth all went 2-for-4.

Ava Detwiler’s one-out double in the fifth was the lone hit for Souderton (8-7, 5-7), who lost its third straight.

Plymouth Whitemarsh 5, Hatboro-Horsham 1 >> Rian Reed gave Plymouth Whitemarsh a 1-0 lead in the top of the first with an RBI double then capped a four-run second with her RBI single as the Colonials claimed their 13th straight victory.

Reed went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and also picked up the pitching win, allowing one run – unearned – on four hits in four innings with one walk and five strikeouts.

Caelin Kosvith finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a double for PW (15-2, 13-1 SOL Liberty).

In the second, Madison Moran’s RBI double put the Colonials up 2-0. Moran came home on a passed ball before Kosvitch and Reed hit consecutive RBI singles.

Alyssa Tooley was 2-for-3 with a double for Hatboro-Horsham (11-5, 10-4 SOL Liberty), which had its three-game win streak snapped.

Pennridge 11, Central Bucks East 1 (6) >> Pennridge’s Ryleigh Lilly hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the third in going 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored as the Rams rolled to a six-inning SOL Colonial victory.

Gabby Hamburger was 3-for-4 with an RBI while Payton Keyser and Kyle Hangey both went 2-for-4 with two runs scored as Pennridge (5-10, 3-9 division) won its second straight.

Central Bucks East took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second but Pennridge scored twice in the bottom of the inning, added two more in the third then plated four in the fourth to go up 8-1.

Sara Camposano went 2-for-3 with two doubles and a run scored for the Patriots (4-13, 1-13). Elena Bhatt was 2-for-3 with a double with Maggie Funston going 2-for-3.

Central Bucks West 4, Central Bucks South 1 >> Laila Murray broke a 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single and Central Bucks West proceeded to add two more runs in the inning to claim the SOL Colonial win.

Murray, who went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored, put the Bucks up 1-0 with her leadoff home runs in the fourth.

Central Bucks South tied the game in the top of the sixth on Stephanie Bendzlowicz’s RBI single. In the bottom of the frame, Gibson followed Murray’s go-ahead RBI single with an RBI groundout to make it 3-1 West. The Bucks added another run on an error on K. James’ two-out grounder.

Ella Wheeler was 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Titans.

West starting pitcher Sienna Lawson struck out 10 in a complete-game effort, giving up one earned run on five hits and no walks.

Abington 6, Upper Dublin 5 >> Upper Dublin grabbed a 3-0 lead in the top of the first but Sami Clewell hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the inning then Abington scored four in its half of the second for a 6-3 lead, which was just enough to hold off the Cardinals for an SOL Liberty win.

Hailey Hernandez went 2-for-3 with two runs scored for Abington (5-10, 3-10 division).

Upper Dublin’s Kate Brannigan and Kaitlyn Zacharia both were 2-for-4 with a run scored. The Cardinals (9-9, 6-8) got a run in the sixth with a Madden Reilly solo home run in the seventh making it 6-5. UD got the tying run to second after a two-out error but a ground out gave Abington the victory.

Quakertown 4, Wissahickon 0 >> Quakertown Skyler Williams hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth and finished 3-for-3 with three RBIs while Abbey Wagner struck out 11 in pitching a two-hit shutout.

Williams gave the Panthers (16-1, 13-1 SOL Liberty) a 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the third. Her two-run homer in the fifth made it 3-0 while three batters later Ellie Hilton added another run with an RBI double.

Gwynedd Mercy 19, Merion Mercy 4 (4) >> The Catholic Academies contest was tied 4-4 after two innings before Gwynedd Mercy erupted for 12 runs in the bottom of the third.

Kiersten Dunlap was 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored for the Monarchs while Natalie Kelley went 2-for-2 with two walks, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Alexa Weiss finished 2-for-2 with a pair of walks and two RBIs, Abby Howard went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored while  Jenna Morrison was 2-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored.
