Lucien Burger’s solo home run in the top of the ninth inning propelled Marple Newtown to a 5-2 victory over Strath Haven in Central League action Wednesday afternoon.

Aiden Hennelly drove in a pair of insurance runs with a double. Aiden Pearson pitched three shutout innings of relief to earn the victory.

Matt Caputo singled twice and scored a run for the Panthers. Jake McDonough added a hit and an RBI.

Elsewhere in the Central League:

Springfield 5, Harriton 4 >> Vinny Valerio ‘s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh gave the Cougars a walk-off win. Mike Turner and Nick Corse started the rally with back-to-back triples.

Sean Williams finished 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for Springfield.

Garnet Valley 11, Lower Merion 1 >> Mark Zuppo went 4-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and three runs scored for the Jaguars. Chris Schaller (double, three RBIs) and Jake Krautzel each had three base knocks.

Nick Gordon (three K’s) hurled a five-inning complete game.

Penncrest 11, Radnor 10 >> The Lions outslugged the visiting Raptors behind two-hit performances from Ben Ettien (three RBIs), Ben Pennoni (two RBIs) and Josh Kalinowski. Harry Giles smacked a two-run triple.

Andrew Barbasi went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for Radnor. Teddy Monahan, Andres Cruz, Zach Fein, Joe Krasowski and Daniel Kellis all collected two hits.

In the Catholic League:

Bonner & Prendergast 3, Lansdale Catholic 0 >> Johnny Ortegae scattered three hits and fanned seven across six shutout innings for the Friars.
