High Schools: Skarren homers twice as Sun Valley edges Oxford

Jordyn Skarren gave the Sun Valley softball team a big lift Monday afternoon.

The All-Delco launched two home runs and had four RBIs in the Vanguards’ 5-4 victory over Oxford in Ches-Mont League action.

Winning pitcher Devin Warner struck out six and helped her cause with an RBI double. Annabel Hertz, Keira Wilkerson and Layla Murphy all chipped in hit.

In the Central League:

Springfield 16, Lower Merion 0 >> Nikki Morrison was a homer shy of the cycle and drove in four runs for the Cougars. Ava Craddock went 2-for-2 with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored. Julia Fegley (two RBIs) and winning pitcher Payton Feeney added two hits apiece.

Garnet Valley 7, Harriton 4 >> The Jaguars honored Anna Sareyka, Rylee Bailey, Jenna Fulmer, Lauren Hartman, Keira Shallock and Madalyn Stiles on senior day. The Jags battled back with five runs in the bottom of the fifth. Fulmer (two runs scored), Zoey Rogers (triple) and Alaina Sareyka provided two hits each.

Marple Newtown 8, Ridley 2 >> Nicole Semerjian powered an 11-hit attack for the Tigers, going 3-for-5 with a double and a triple. Grace Corner had a pair of singles, and Maggie Coupe pitched a three-hit complete game.

Haverford 10, Strath Haven 0 >> Lucy Wolf tossed a two-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts on her senior night. Grace Ciochetto paced the Haverford bats with three hits.

Girls Lacrosse

Maddie Shafer recorded a hat trick and Ava Pradelli, Hilary Elsner and Caroline Cassidy each collected three goals in Haverford’s 14-3 victory over Lower Merion.

Annie Walker contributed a goal, two assists, five ground balls and five draw controls. Chloe Taylor registered a goal and seven draw controls.

In a nonleague game:

Twin Valley 14, Cardinal O’Hara 3 >> Honor Breen led the Lions with two goals and three caused turnovers. Fran Fazio also scored, and Penny Miller finished with four draw controls and three ground balls.
