The Haverford School’s Ian White dazzled on the mound during Tuesday’s Inter-Ac League rivalry game at Episcopal Academy.
The senior right hander spun a two-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts to lead the visiting Fords to a 2-0 victory.
Haverford (12-6-1, 4-1) scored both of its runs in the top of the third inning via sacrifice flies from Connor Scanlan and Brenner Green, who went 2-for-2. Pat White added a double for the Fords.
Ian White, who is committed to East Carolina University, worked around two walks and one hit batsman.
Owen Peiffer and Jack Hurda each singled for the Churchmen (12-7, 1-4), who have dropped seven of their last nine decisions.
In the Del Val League:
Chichester 17, Academy Park 2 >> Josh Claycomb went 3-for-5 with seven RBIs and four runs scored to pace the Eagles. Cole Sanford added a single, double and five RBIs.
Domenic Nardini registered seven strikeouts in three innings. Claycomb struck out the side in the fourth to end the game.
In Catholic League action Monday:
La Salle 7, Bonner & Prendergast 5 >> The Friars (8-3, 5-2) nearly stormed back from a 6-0 deficit but ultimately fell to the first-place Explorers (11-2, 7-0).
CJ Nocella’s two-out, two-run double in the top of the seventh pulled the Friars within 7-5, but La Salle reliever Cole Kochanowicz struck out Ryan Friel to end the game.
Bonner ace Cory Sheridan gave up six runs (four earned) on six hits and struck out three in five innings.
Archbishop Ryan 4, Archbishop Carroll 0 >> James Wright had two hits and a pair of stolen bases, but the Patriots (2-10) lost their fifth straight. Michael Edwards pitched three shutout innings, allowing one hit while striking out three
Conwell-Egan 6, Cardinal O’Hara 1 >> Jim Quinn provided a hit and an RBI for the Lions (4-6, 4-3), who managed just three singles and struck out 10 times against C-E pitching.
