West Chester junior gymnast, Jordan Coleman, won the USA Gymnastics Women’s Collegiate National Championship at the 2024 USAG Nationals held inside Hollinger Field House on the campus of WCU Sunday. Coleman scored a 9.8875 on the uneven bars and then waited out three more competitors to find out she was the national champ.
Coleman is just the second national champion from West Chester, and the first since 2017, when Majesta Valentine was the all-around champion at USAG nationals in Seattle.
Sarah Eskew placed fifth in the all-around competition for West Chester. Eskew scored a 38.85 in the all-around for the Golden Rams on Friday evening when the finals of that event took place.

Downingtown West 1, Downingtown East 0 (8 innings) >> Pitcher Addison Carter went the distance, scattered two hits and struck out 12 to get the complete game shutout. The Whippets scored the lone run in the eighth inning. Emma Ahlborn notched two hits to pace West.
Boys Tennis
West Chester Henderson 7, Kennett 0 >> The Warriors swept the Blue Demons and all seven matches came in straight sets. The most competitive of the bunch includes a 6-1, 7-6 (7-5) victory in No. 3 singles for Bensen Li over Carlos Amezcua. In doubles, the first team of Natham Himsworth and Agastya Singh topped Ryan Church and Aaron Wilson, 6-1, 6-3.
Unionville 6, Bishop Shanahan 0 >> The Longhorns prevailed in 84 of 88 games while blanking the Eagles. At No. 3 singles, Ethan Wang logged a 6-0, 6-2 win over Thomas Duncheskie. At third doubles, Manny Prem and Jacob Duran defeated Michael Wilmer and Luka Karins 6-0, 6-1. Unionville improves to 8-1 in the Ches-Mont (10-1 overall).
Downingtown West 6, West Chester East 1 >> Cash Bailey and Jack Shelton won for the Whippets in singles. But West swept all four doubles matches against the Vikings. The third squad of Mehul Rogy and Josh topped Shravan Rajagopal and Connor Beckman 6-3, 6-2. And at No. 4, the team of Ojas Mishra and Siddharth Gupta defeated Stefano Carenzo and Albert Wang 6-4, 6-4.
College
Baseball
West Chester 6, Bloomsburg 1; West Chester 13, Bloomsburg 1 >> Julian Costa delivered another excellent complete-game performance in game one, and the Golden Rams scored 19 runs in two games, to roll to a doubleheader sweep of Bloomsburg on Sunday.
In game one, Costa went the distance on the mound, scattering just three hits and one run, while walking a pair and striking out seven to improve to 6-2 on the year for West Chester (13-5 PSAC, 27-5 overall).
In the nightcap, five Golden Rams recorded multi-hit games, including a 3-for-4 effort by Zack Miles and a 2-for-3 effort by Anthony Boccio (Coatesville), along with five RBI for the graduate student. Evan Profy also went 2-for-3 with a team-best three runs scored in game two, while John DeMucci and Drew Spencer were 2-for-4 on the afternoon.
Men’s Tennis
Immaculata 8, Mt. Aloysius 1 >> The Macs (1-6 overall) notched their first victory of the season. The top three singles matches went to Immaculata’s Jason Watts, Troy Watts and Nicholas Fleming, all in straight sets. Jason and Troy Watts went on to win at No. 1 doubles 8-2. Jeremy Brown and Fleming notched an 8-2 win at No. 2, and the team of Nicholas Brown and Alex Polidoro prevailed 8-1.
Women’s Tennis
Mt. Aloysius 6, Immaculata 3 >> The Mighty Macs (2-5 overall) dropped their Atlantic East Conference opener. In No. 1 doubles, Pamela Kontares and Delaney Brown prevailed 8-1. Kontaras won the first singles match in straight sets 6-1, 6-0, and Brown did the same at second singles, 6-1, 6-0.
