North Penn 3, Pennridge 0 >> Bella Nunn began North Penn’s season by throwing a no-hitter, the senior UMBC commit striking out 16 and allowing just three walks as the Knights topped host Pennridge Thursday in the SOL Colonial Division opener for both teams

Nunn also hit a double while Casey Sokol went 2-for-3 with a double.

North Penn took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth as Sokol scored after a dropped third strike. The Knights added two more in the seventh on a Olivia Stevens RBI single and Stevens coming in on a passed ball.

Plymouth Whitemarsh 15, Abington 0 (4) >> Madison Moran hit a three-run home run as Plymouth Whitemarsh scored six in the third, the Colonials plating another eight in the fourth as they cruised to a four-inning SOL Liberty winn.

Rian Reed gave up one inning in pitching a shutout for PW (1-0, 1-0), striking out eight while walking one.

Moran went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Emily Dobrowolski was 2-for-3 with an RBI as the Colonials collected 11 hits.

Quakertown 5, Upper Dublin 1 >> Leah Schwalm went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI while Abbey Wagner struck out 10 in a complete-game win at Quakertown topped Upper Dublin in the SOL Liberty Division matchup.

The Panthers took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Upper Dublin plated a run in the top of the third but Quakertown (1-0, 1-0 division) scored two more in its half the inning to go up 4-1 then added a run in the sixth.

Ava Featherson hit an RBI triple in the second and also scored twice for the Panthers.

For Upper Dublin (1-2, 0-1), Kaitlyn Small was 2-for-4 while Sphia Vitella had a run scored. Cardinals pitcher Kyla Garrison struck out 10 while allowing five runs – four earned – on five hits and four walks.

Wagner gave up one earned run on six hits and did not walk a batter.

Villa Maria 13, Pope John Paul II 1 >> Villa Maria’s Alyssa DeMaio hit a grand slam in going 3-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored in the Hurricanes’ non-league win.

Molly Houchins had a double and Grace Fitzgerald had an RBI for Pope John Paul II.

VMA’s Anna Stroup went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Baseball

Methacton 5, Lansdale Catholic 4 >> Methacton’s Tripp Shytle hit RBI single in the bottom of the fight pulled Methacton even 4-4 then came through again with a walk-off base hit in the seventh to give the Warriors a comeback non-league victory.

Tommy Kratz was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored for Methacton (2-0) and also picked up the win, giving up no runs, no hits, one walk and striking out four in pitching the last two innings.

Shytle finished 2-for-2 with two RBI while Liam Greenberg was 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and a run scored.

Boys Volleyball

Pennridge 3, Upper Dublin 0 >> Evan Jalosinski posted 30 assists while Jude Rotondo finished with 11 kills, five digs and four blocks as Pennridge avenged last year’s loss in the District 1 final by sweeping the SOL Continental Conference match 25-22, 25-16, 25-22.

Bryce Ammon added 10 kills and six digs for the Rams. Logan Jalosinski had eight kills, six digs, two aces and two blocks, Chris Cullen contributed six kills and two blocks while Aaron Ladd totaled four aces, four digs and two blocks.

Souderton 3, Quakertown 1 >> Derek Stefanowicz had 16 kills and 11 digs while Everett Self collected 12 kills and 12 digs to help Souderton earn a four-set victory.

Connor Basile finished with 18 digs and three aces for the Indians (1-2, 1-0 SOL Continental). Kelly Kim had 36 assists and 10 digs with Sawyer Jones making six blocks.

Boys Lacrosse

Upper Dublin 12, Pennridge 8 >> Upper Dublin finished the first half with a 9-2 lead and went on to beat Pennridge.

Levi Souder paced Pennridge with three goals. Ryan Carickhoff chipped in two goals while Frank Fanelli dished out two assists. Matt Kriney had a goal and an assist with Colin Manville and Rocco Fanelli both scoring a goal. Goalkeeper Tyler Vandermark made eight saves.

Souderton 8, Boyertown 6 >> Souderton’s Sean Landis had three goals and an assist, Seth Grossman finished with two goals and two assists and Souderton topped Boyertown to earn a non-league win Wednesday.

Trey Bui had a goal and two assists for the Indians while John Martin Vince added a goal and an assist. Jaden Knize scored a goal with Gavin Landis and Logan Wrubel each collecting an assist.

Goalkeeper Matt Malanga had 14 saves while Peyton Bannak won 13-of-17 faceoffs and had 10 ground balls.

Girls Lacrosse

Upper Dublin 12, Boyertown 8 >> Bridget Martile had four scores and and assist while Paige Dinkel scored four goals as Upper Dublin built a 7-1 halftime lead then held off Boyertown for a non-league victory.

Anna DiMartile collected two goals, an assist, five draw controls and two caused turnovers for the Cardinals. Mads McManus scored twice while goalkeeper Erin Darcy had six saves.

Alina Fritz and Hannah Adamski both had three goals for the Bears while Fritz handed out two assists. Jordyn Diffenderfer and Camryn Fritz each had a goal.

Archbishop Carroll 9, Garnet Valley 4 >> Archbishop Carroll led 5-0 after a quarter, took a 7-1 advantage in halftime 7-1 and went on to claim a non-league win.

Brooke Hipper scored three goals for the Patriots (2-0) while Clarie Sexton had two goals and two assists. Sam Hewitt finished with a goal and three assists.

Katie O’Neill added a goal and assist with Sienna Golden and Greta Potten both scoring a goal. Golden and Chloe Bleckley had five and four draw controls, respectively. Carroll goalie Mei Rader posted three saves.

For Garnet Valley, Taylor Halloran scored twice while Ryan Razzano and Mia Raucci each had a goal. Goalie Merrin Mink made five saves.

Girls Track & Field

Souderton 97, Quakerton 43 >> Souderton’s Ava Mills posted a personal best in winning the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.53 Wednesday as the Indians beat Quakertown in a dual meet.

Souderton’s Destini Smith won both the high jump and triple jump. The Indians also got first-place finishes from Ella Tencza (400, 1:03.68), Reese Richardson (800, 2:38.82), Hannah Fuente (1600, 6:00.05), Jackie Kulhanjian (3200), Isiyah McFadden (100 hurdles, 17.96), Rylie Weeks (300 hurdles, 53.11) and Zoe Bass (pole vault).
