Girls Basketball: Archbishop Carroll’s Brooke Wilson named Catholic League MVP

Brooke Wilson of Archbishop Carroll was named the Catholic League’s Most Valuable Player for the 2023-24 regular season, the league announced Wednesday.

Wilson is enjoying an outstanding senior season after helping the Patriots win the PIAA Class 6A championship nearly a year ago. The Patriots are 14-8 overall and 9-2 in the Catholic League.

The Army commit scored her 1,000th career point last week.

Wilson and teammate Alexis Eberz joined the following players on the All-Catholic League First Team: Archbishop Wood’s Ava Renninger and Emily Knouse; Cardinal O’Hara’s Molly Rullo and Joanie Quinn; Lansdale Catholic’s Grace McDonough; Nazareth Academy’s Reese Power; and Neumann-Goretti’s Reginna Baker and Carryn Easley.

The Second Team is comprised of Archbishop Carroll’s Felicity McFillin; Archbishop Ryan’s Delaney Finn; Archbishop Wood’s Alexa Windish; Cardinal O’Hara’s Carly Coleman; Conwell-Egan’s Lily Milewski; Lansdale Catholic’s Olivia Boccella and Sanyiah Littlejohn; Nazareth Academy’s Gracie Sullivan; Neumann-Goretti’s Amya Scott; and West Catholic’s Nyla Coleman.

Honorable mentions were handed to Archbishop Wood’s Lauren Greer, Bonner & Prendergast’s Riley Donahue, Cardinal O’Hara’s Meg Rullo, Conwell-Egan’s Brooke McFadden and Neumann-Goretti’s Kamora

All-Catholic League and MVP recipients are selected by the league’s 12 head coaches.

The Catholic League postseason tournament begins Thursday with the quarterfinal round.

No. 3 Carroll hosts No. 6 Lansdale Catholic and No. 7 West Catholic visits No. 2 O’Hara. Eighth-seeded Conwell-Egan travels to No. 1 Wood, while fourth-seeded Neumann-Goretti is home against No. 5 Nazareth Academy.

The semifinal round is scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 20 at Saint Joseph’s-University City. The championship will take place at the Palestra on Monday, Feb. 26.
