Roundup: Sun Valley eliminates Perkiomen Valley from District 1 wrestling duals

Sun Valley 45, Perkiomen Valley 30

Sun Valley made Perkiomen Valley’s visit to the District 1 Class 3A Duals a brief one as the No. 5 seeds prevailed in an opening round match Wednesday.

Sun Valley won seven of the first eight bouts to build a 39-6 lead.

All five PV wins came via pinfall thanks to Luke Knox (139), Carter Euker (189, Jake Batchelder (215), Cole Euker (285) and Max Tancini (107).

Pottsgrove rallied from a 36-24 deficit by winning the final three bouts to secure a PAC Frontier victory over Upper Merion.

Jake Palladino (189) and Alex Vasquez (215) earned back-to-back pins and Damien Poloway completed the comeback with a major at 285.

Spring-Ford turned a 22-19 deficit into a 16-point win thanks to winning the final four matches for a PAC Liberty win at Methacton.

Ryan Hayes’ major at 127 gave Methacton an improbable late lead, but the Rams got a major from Brennan McGrann (133), decision from Christian Ruiz (139), and pins from Jamie Silva (145) and Drew Dotterer (152) to finish the job ahead of District 1 duals Thursday.

Boys’ Basketball

Hill School 66, Lawrenceville 51

Hill extended its winning streak against chief rival Lawrenceville with a 66-51 home victory.

Jacob Meacham scored 20 and Ethan Johnston added 15 to lead the Blues, who have not lost to the Larries since 2013. It was the fourth straight win for Hill, which moves to 12-6 and 4-0 in MAPL league play.

Hill led 28-24 at the half and pulled away in the third quarter with Meacham scoring nine in the frame. Nemo Holmes scored 10 to round on Hill’s double-digit scorers.

Hill goes on the road for another league game this Saturday to face Hun School of Princeton at 4 p.m.
