The No. 13 seed Spring-Ford girls volleyball team continued its surprise run in the District 1 Class 4A tournament on Saturday but defeating No. 5 seed Pennsbury in three sets to reach the semifinals and advance to the PIAA Championships for the first time in program history.
Spring-Ford defeated Pennsbury 27-25, 25-17, 25-22. The win came two days after the Rams knocked off No. 4 seed Plymouth Whitemarsh. Spring-Ford, which reached the Pioneer Athletic Conference championship but fell to reigning PIAA 3A champion Pope John Paul II, has not dropped a set in their tournament run.
Spring-Ford visits top-seeded Unionville on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 6 p.m. The final will be held Thursday, Nov. 2 at Harriton High School (7 p.m.).
Statistical leaders against Pennsbury were freshman Marley Angelucci with 9 kills, 9 assists, 9 digs, and 1 ace; junior Laren Angelucci with 8 kills and 9 digs; senior setter Dannica Fuller with 16 assists, 4 digs, 4 aces, and 1 kill; and sophomore Alanna Bricker with 11 digs and two assists.

The Bears fell in their District 1-4A quarterfinal at Rustin on Saturday.
Brayden Burkhardt scored Boyertown’s lone goal.
No. 15 Boyertown is still in contention for a place in the state tournament. It travels to No. 14 Central Bucks South for a playback match on Tuesday where the winner earns qualification to states.
