High School Roundup: Owen J. Roberts girls soccer deals Spring-Ford its first loss of season

GIRLS SOCCER

Owen J. Roberts 1, Spring-Ford 0, OT: Emerson Storti scored the game-winning goal at the 8:30 mark of overtime and OJR (8-6) handed Spring-Ford its first loss of the season.

OJR goalie Abby Smith made six saves to record the shutout. Spring-Ford (12-1) saw goalie Olivia Neild record six saves.

Perk Valley 2, Boyertown 1: Brianna Young tallied a goal and an assist in the Vikings PAC win over the Bears Monday. Giavanna Marciano scored PV’s other goal and Adrianna Corropolese had an assist. Harper Glennon scored for the Bears.

Pope John Paul II 2, Phoenixville 0: Cam Schuler had a goal and an assist in the Golden Panthers PAC win Monday. Schuler set up Aubrey Delpha for what proved to be the game-winner in the first half. Lindsey Rezza assisted Schuler’s insurance goal in the second half. PJP goalkeeper Kyanni Escudero made 12 saves.

Methacton 6, Norristown 0: Aubrey Beaugard scored the first three goals of the game in the Warriors PAC win over Norristown Monday. Katie Rozinsky added two goals and Alyssa Lineen scored once.

Pottsgrove 8, Pottstown 0: Behind Bri Thorum’s four goals and two assists, Pottsgrove moved to 7-4-2 with a 8-0 PAC Frontier win over Pottstown.

 

BOYS SOCCER

Perkiomen Valley 6, Boyertown 2: Nate Brown’s hat trick led the Vikings to a PAC win over the Bears Monday. Perk Valley, the No. 3 ranked team in District 1-4A, remained undefeated and improved to 13-0 with the win. Sean Schoeniger, Andrew Bricker and Brandon Chapkovich also scored for PV. Braedyn Johnson and Mason Cavalero scored for the Bears.

Owen J. Roberts 2, Spring-Ford 0: The Wildcats capitalized on a pair of penalty kicks and OJR knocked off nine-man Spring-Ford in PAC Liberty play.

Juan Colina-Valeri and Mason Wiedl were true from the penalty spot and Ethan Suessmuth had four-save goalkeeping for OJR.

Central Bucks East 4, Souderton 0: The Patriots scored three goals in the first half and never looked back, cruising to an SOL Colonial win over the Indians Monday. Souderton improved in the second half, but couldn’t find the back of the net.

FIELD HOCKEY

Methacton 4, Phoenixville 0: Lizzie Mun scored two goals in the Warriors PAC win over the Phantoms Monday. Ceci Rehak and Maddy Baker also scored goals while Ally Mitchell, Carmela Maro, Lea DeWan and Calie Fisher had assists. Corinne Bull made 24 saves for Phoenixville.

Owen J. Roberts 6, Pope John Paul II 1: Evie Wolters scored three goals in the Wildcats PAC win Monday. Abby Simmers scored the Golden Panthers lone goal and goalie Ava Parkinson made four saves.

 

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Pope John Paul II 3, Upper Merion 1: Natalie Ricevuto paced Pope John Paul II with 16 kills while Hutton Cordrey finished with 14 kills, 10 digs and 11 service points as the Golden Panthers earned a 25-11, 25-6, 20-25, 25-20 victory over Upper Merion. Madison Monahan had 51 assists, nine digs and 17 service points for PJP II. Gabriella Cooper added 11 digs and 18 service points while Maeve Gallagher and Norah Busch had 12 and 11 kills, respectively.

Phoenixville 3, Upper Perkiomen 0: The Phantoms swept the Tribe 25-18, 25-21 and 25-16 to pick up a PAC win Monday. Kristen Brown had four kills and four aces for Phoenixville while Kailey Hudy had seven aces, 16 assists, four digs and two kills, Ryleigh Galbreath five aces and three kills and Mandie Horgan four kills, one ace and six digs.

Villa Joseph Marie 3, Souderton 1: The Indians dropped a non-league match in four sets Monday. McKenna Murawski totaled 11 kills, nine aces, 24 digs and one block for Souderton while Zoe Folk added 22 digs, one kill and one ace, Emma Conklin six kills, two aces and three digs, Margaret Donnelly 21 assists and seven digs, Kaci Goshow: four kills and three digs and Stella Powers two aces and seven digs.

Spring-Ford 3, Perkiomen Valley 0: Spring-Ford won on the road in Perk Valley’s Dig Pink game. Leaders for the Rams were sophomore Lila Olsen (9 kills, 2 digs), senior Dannica Fuller (15 assists, 3 digs, 2 aces, 2 kills), junior Lauren Angelucci (7 kills), freshman Marley Angelucci (7 assists, 2 aces) and junior Liv McCullagh (6 kills).

Downingtown West 3, North Penn 0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-17)

 

BOYS GOLF

Perk Valley 205, Boyertown 215: Jacob Rotay shot a match-best 39 to lead the Vikings to a PAC semifinal win over the Bears Monday at Hickory Valley. Alex Hall was right behind Rotay, shooting a 40 and Clark Roynan shot a 41. Luke Hennessey led Boyertown with a 42.

GIRLS GOLF

Boyertown 195, Owen J. Roberts 211: The Bears celebrated Senior Day with a PAC win over the Wildcats at Twin Ponds Golf Course. Kamryn Pier led Boyertown with a match-best 42 while Peyton Heimbach shot 50, Hailey Schildt 51 and Katia Holmes 52. Olivia Sovochka led OJR, shooting 49.

 

GIRLS TENNIS

Spring-Ford 7, Boyertown 0: The Rams swept Boyertown to pick up a PAC win Monday. Mia Matriccino (6-0, 6-1 first singles), Evelyn Mejia (6-0, 6-0 second singles) and Kacie Rohn (6-1, 6-0 third singles) cruised to victories in the three singles matches. Spring-Ford’s first doubles team, Alexis Luo and Chloe Moore, and second doubles team, Katie Tiffan and Brooke McPike, both won, 6-0, 6-0.

Phoenixville 7, Pope John Paul II 0: The Phantoms took all seven matches in a PAC win over the Golden Panthers Monday. Vivona Xu won first singles 6-1, 6-1, Elise Pham took second singles, 7-5, 6-2, and Lindsay Richter third singles, 6-4, 4-6, 10-4.
