Sara Koleth registers goal and assist, leads Radnor to girls soccer win

Radnor defense, Toomey shut down Coatesville

Sara Koleth, Maeve Mucksavage and Nicole Harris each scored a goal to boost Radnor to a 3-0 girls soccer victory over Coatesville on Saturday.

Koleth assisted on Harris’ goal, while Sarah Kelley assisted on the first Radnor goal and Cara Ruggieri and Anna Reger assisted on the second Raptors score.

Goalie Mallory Toomey pitched the shutout.

Agnes Irwin 1, Baldwin 1 >> Freshman Jennifer Kelly enjoyed her big moment, scoring the only goal for AIS in a tie.

Volleyball

In a tri-match, West Chester Henderson defeated Penncrest 3-0 Saturday, with game scores being 25-18, 25-9 and 25-23.

The Lions saw Maddy Bachovchin get 10 assists and 14 digs, while Adrianna Roach added eight kills and four digs. Keira Costello had three kills for Penncrest.

In another match, Penncrest defeated Marple Newtown 3-1. Roach had 13 kills and five digs, Bachovchin had four aces and 26 assists and Costello and Morgan Gibian registered nine kills each as the Lions won by 25-23, 17-25, 25-20 and 25-18.

Field Hockey

Agnes Irwin fell to Conestoga 3-1 in a nonleague battle. Ali Gerber scored for AIS, while Sara Davis made 12 saves.

Boys Soccer

Omar Warthan Jr. scored Ridley’s lone goal via a penalty kick Saturday in a 1-1 tie with Garnet Valley.

The Green Raiders received strong defensive support from Chris Capozzoli, Brandon Nguyen, John Teehan, Sebastian Malatesta and Ben Schaefer. Goalies Brady Warwick and Ruvim Kovalov combined on eight saves.

Garnet Valley tied the game up with 25 minutes remaining in the second half, on a a goal by Jorge Lopez, his first of the season, with an assist by Nate Bourgiannis.

Both teams were down to 10 men each (via red cards) by the time the tie survived through two overtimes.

Downingtown West 6, Haverford 0 >> No other details were reported on this nonleague game.
