Episcopal Academy’s version of the “tush push” resulted in the game-winning touchdown Saturday afternoon at Blair Academy (N.J.).

It required three tries, but quarterback Brody Garrison finally sneaked across the goal line from a yard out with nine minutes left in the fourth quarter to put the Churchmen in front, 15-14. The score held as Episcopal’s defense stood tall in the red zone in the final seconds of regulation to preserve its second win of the season.

In the Central League:

Garnet Valley 10, Lower Merion 8 >> The Jaguars (5-1), who were without multiple key players due to injury, survived a big scare from the visiting Aces (2-4) Friday night.

Tyler Lassik scored on a quarterback keeper for the game’s first touchdown midway through the second half. Kai Lopez added a field goal in the second quarter. The 10 points are the fewest the Jags have scored in a game they won since a 6-0 victory against Springfield in September 2018.

In other nonleague action:

Marple Newtown 48, Mastery North Charter 7 >> Brian Box ran for two touchdowns and Dave Bertoline threw scoring passes to Paul DeFruscio and Alex Gillan as the Tigers (5-1) crushed the Pumas.

Neumann-Goretti 22, Cardinal O’Hara 7 >> Keon Powell scored on a short run in the second quarter for the Lions (3-3), but the host Saints ended the game with 14 unanswered points.
