The West Chester Henderson High School golf squad clinched the Ches-Mont National team title with a 197-208 win against Avon Grove Thursday and qualified for Districts as a team. Senior Josh Baker led the Warriors with a two under par 34, followed by teammates senior Cole Snyder (39), Joey Lynn (41), Evan Off (41) and Patrick Lynn (42). It was the Warriors’ second Ches-Mont National team title in the past four years.

Kennett 202, Great Valley 224 >> The Blue Demons (8-5 overall, 6-4 ChesMont American, third place) competed its season with a win at Applecross Golf Club. Top Kennett scorers were senior Kasim Narinesingh-Smith (one over par 36), senior Nick Vitale (39), senior Michael Pepe (39). junior Juan Garzaron (44) and freshman Matthew Pepe (44). The Patriots’ top scorers were Noah Richardson (40), Harry Traynor (45), Cameron DiMattesa (45) and Owen Grimes (46).

Downingtown West 212, Coatesville 249 >> The Whippets were led by Jackson Geyer (four over par 39), Luke Chambers (40), Matt Sipes (44), Nathan Filidore (44), Noah Stefani (45), Alex Young (45) and Jase Lasher (45) at Coatesville Country Club. The Red Raiders were led by Isaac Smith (44), Derek Cooper (45) and Xavier Polley (48).

 

Girls’ volleyball

West Chester East 3, West Chester Henderson 0 >> The Vikings (11-2) posted scores of 25-21, 25-22 and 25-16. The Vikings were led by Alexa Mork (10 kills, 11 digs, two aces), Izzy Byrne (14 digs, three aces), Katie McPeak (22 assists), Annie Kerns (five kills, six digs), Sofia Keith (four kills, four blocks, three aces), Lauren Cuskey (six kills, two aces) and Carys Lehr (four blocks).

Unionville 3, Coatesville 0 >> The Longhorns (9-0), who posted scores of 25-9, 25-9 and 25-8, were led by Holland Van Deusen (30 assists), Abby Federico (12 kills) and Leah Wiswall (six kills).

Downingtown West 3, Great Valley 0 >> The Whippets (4-7, 3-4), who posted scores of 25-12, 25-21 and 26-24, were led by Emma Helveston (eight kills, five blocks), Fallon Mitchell (seven kills, two aces, 16 digs), Ava Brotze (five kills), Maya Sanders (five kills), Leah Hampson (four kills, two blocks), Madi Dougherty (10 digs), Maggie McLaughlin (15 assists, nine aces) and Ava Harple (five aces).

Kennett 3, West Chester Rustin 2 >> The Golden Knights, who posted scores of 19-25, 25-19, 25-19, 23-25 and 9-15, were led by senior Jane Nelson (17 kills, 38 digs), junior Victoria D’Ulisse (12 assists) and sophomore Maggie Goslee (12 assist).

 

Girls tennis

Downingtown West 7, Bishop Shanahan 0 >> The Whippets won all seven matches in straight sets, including first singles (Ramona Feierabend), second singles (Sanni Varanasi) and third singles (Gianna Brown).

 

Girls’ soccer

Downingtown East 6, Oxford 0 >> The Cougars got goals from Katie Beck, Ellie Graf, Katie Graf, Olivia Dever, Paige Pfizenmayer and Kate Smith. Assists were dished out by Ellie Graf and Jithya Rudraraju.

 

Boys’ soccer

Bishop Shanahan 1, Owen J Roberts 0 >> Oliver Dooley scored the only goal of the match in the 14th minute of the second half on a pass from Salvi DeBellis. Shane Hughes had eight saves for the Eagles in keeping the clean sheet.

Unionville 2, Coatesville 0 >> Goals were scored by Andrew Dirnberger and Jax Pinkson. Gavin Massimi made 10 saves and played a strong game in goal for Coatesville. Dirnberger played well at forward and Caio Bonato and Bear Ziegler had solid games in the midfield for the Longhorns (6-4).
