What to know about the 2023 BCIAA team and boys individual golf tournaments

Individual tournament

When, where: Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. at Blackwood Golf Course (par 70) in Douglassville.

Format: 27 holes, stroke play. After 18 holes in morning, the field will be cut to low 18 scores and ties in Class 3A and to low 18 scores and ties in Class 2A. Those golfers will play nine more holes. Ties will be broken by a playoff.

At stake: The top six finishers will receive medals. The top nine golfers from Class 3A and the top nine from 2A will qualify for the District 3 Tournament, which will be held from Oct. 6-7, with Class 3A at Honey Run Golf Club and Class 2A at Briarwood Golf Club, both in York.

Last year: Fleetwood’s Ryan Hromiak shot a 27-hole total of 11-over 116 at Blackwood to finish two strokes ahead of Daniel Boone’s Chase Yenser and Wilson’s Kyle Rittersbach. Hromiak and Yenser are the only returning medalists.

Team tournament

When, where: Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. at Blackwood Golf Course (par 70) in Douglassville.

Format: Division champions Fleetwood and Tulpehocken and runners-up Twin Valley and Berks Catholic can use six players and every other team can use five, with the lowest four scores from the first 18 holes of the individual tournament counting in the team competition.

At stake: Class 3A and Class 2A champions will advance to the District 3 Tournament, which will be held from Oct. 6, with Class 3A at Honey Run Golf Club and Class 2A at Briarwood Golf Club, both in York

Last year: Wilson shot 314 to win its third consecutive BCIAA title. Twin Valley was second, 14 strokes back.
