Berks Catholic got back in the win column on Friday.

The Saints scored 19 points in the first half then held on for a 19-16 win over Donegal in a Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 4 game at Mount Joy.

Berks Catholic running back Bryce Gumby had a 2-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter. Donegal (0-2, 2-3) responded with a 6-yard scoring run from Ruben Mumper and took the lead with a successful two-point conversion in the second quarter.

The Saints (1-1, 2-3) retook the lead on a 33-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Zach Suski to Maxx Mace. The ensuing two point conversion was no good.

Suski scored on a 1-yard run later in the first half to give Berks Catholic a 19-8 lead after the extra point.

In the second half, Landen Baughman scored on a 3-yard run for Donegal. The ensuing two-point conversion was good to cut the Saints’ lead to 19-16.

The Indians drove to a first-and-goal at the Saints’ 8 in the final minutes. On fourth-and-goal at the 13, Donegal, which didn’t have a healthy kicker, opted to go for it. An option pass back to quarterback Brock Hammaker came up short with 3:55 left.

Berks Catholic snapped a two-game losing streak.
