Emma Helveston had six kills, two blocks and two aces to lead Downingtown West to a 3-0 Ches-Mont League National Division girls volleyball victory over Coatesville on Tuesday.
The Whippets (2-0 Ches-Mont National, 3-2 overall) won by scores of 25-7, 25-9, 25-10.
Ava Brotze notched six kills, Madi Dougherty had 11 digs and five aces, Grace Hurley had 10 assists and two aces and Kendall Huffman notched 12 digs and two aces.
Bishop Shanahan 3, WC Rustin 0 >> Jane Nelson had 13 kills, Jadyn Johnson had 25 digs and Maggie Goslee added 14 assists as the Golden fell to the Eagles by scores of 25-23, 25-16, 25-16.
Field Hockey
Kennett 12, Sun Valley 0 >> Mia Wynn had four goals as the Blue Demons rolled to the Ches-Mont American triumph. Whitney Walker had two goals and two assists, Sarah Fritz added a goal and two assists. Margo Schwartz had a goal and an assists and Sadie O’Donnell had a pair of goals.
Boys Soccer
Kennett 2, Sun Valley 0 >> The Blue Demons received goals from junior Brian Palma-Ortiz and freshman Enriwue Ortiz in the Ches-Mont American victory. J.P Teixeira and Wes Presnell recorded assists. Junior goalkeeper Kevin Avila received strong defensive (junior) preserved the shutout along with strong defensive efforts from senior David Cerezales, sophomore John Tuley, sophomore Ricky Calderon and junior Billy Hogan.
WC Rustin 5, Bishop Shanahan 1 >> Aidan Koch tallied twice as the Golden Knights (1-0, 3-1) posted the Ches-Mont victory. Danny McGonagle, Scottie Ely and Jack Pelkowski added the other goals. Cole Turner and Fred Adler recorded assists. Mike Ziegler scored for the Eagles.
Girls Tennis
WC Henderson 6, WC Rustin 1 >> The Warriors won two of three singles matches to post the Ches-Mont victory. Kaitlyn Evans won at first singles and Amelia Jarden recorded a three-set victory at third singles. Jayda Lilla recorded the Golden Knights’ lone victory in three sets at second singles.

Golf
Downingtown West 198, West Chester East 209 >> Avery O’Neil, Justin Marcus and Luke Chambers all carded 39s to pace the Whuippets to the Ches-Mont National win. Ian Larsen had a 40 and Nathan Fillidore had a 41. Jonah Trueman and Colby Mann led the Vikings with a 40 each. Thomas Baschoff, Cameron Mann and CJ DeHaven had 43s.
Girls Golf
Downingtown East 185, Central Bucks East 219 >> Mia Pace led the way with a 39 as the host Cougars rolled to the nonleague victory at thw Whitford Country Club. Lucia Giuliano followed with a 48 along with Emma Eitzen and Sarah Chung added a 50. Madison Molesky paced CB East with a 47.
