Upper Perkiomen’s Kyra Lesko was named to the 2022-23 United Soccer Coaches High School Scholar All-American Team. Lesko is the first recipient from Upper Perkiomen’s program and is the only female player from Pennsylvania among the 55 players recognized nationally this year.

For players to be up for consideration of the honor, they must have a minimum GPA of 3.75 as well as postseason honors, such as All-State recognition. Lesko, who made the 2022 Pa. Soccer Coaches Association All-State Team, held a 4.36 GPA, landing her within the top 20 players who received the award.

As a senior captain, Lesko helped the Indians to a 25-1-1 overall record while securing the Pioneer Athletic Conference and District 1 Class 3A titles before reaching the PIAA 3A championship, falling to District 7’s Moon, 2-1. The PAC championship was Upper Perkiomen’s first since 2008, while the district title and state final appearance were both firsts for the program.

The 2022 Mercury All-Area Girls Soccer Player of the Year, Lesko logged seven goals with four assists this fall. She was also named first team All-League as well as Most Outstanding Athlete at the Upper Perk Blue and Gold Ceremony. A member of the national honor society, Lesko was also named to the PAC Fall All-Academic Team as well.

As a team, Upper Perkiomen also received the United Soccer Coaches Pinnacle Award, an honor that recognizes achieving the Team Academic Award and Team Sportsmanship and Ethics Award while having a winning percentage over .750. Upper Perkiomen was also honored at the St. Luke’s All-Star Awards Ceremony as the Female Team of the Year.

Lesko will be continuing her academic and athletic careers at Jefferson University where she’ll be playing soccer at the NCAA Division II level.
