Upper Dublin’s Colin O’Sullivan throws game-winning touchdown at Big 33 Football Classic

Pennsylvania has not lost the Big 33 Football Classic to Maryland since 2018 and Upper Dublin quarterback Colin O’Sullivan made sure it didn’t happen this year.

O’Sullivan and the Pennsylvania offense took the field trailing by three points with 2:29 left in the game. That was more than enough time. The Rutgers commit threw the game-winning touchdown pass – a high-arcing 31-yard strike placed in the perfect spot against tight coverage – to Dallastown wide receiver and Pittsburgh commit Kenny Johnson to give Pennsylvania a four-point lead with 1:15 remaining.

The Pennsylvania defense got a final stop to secure a 31-27 win in the 66th Big 33 Football Classic at Bishop McDevitt’s Rocco Ortenzio Stadium in Harrisburg Sunday night.

O’Sullivan finished the game 9-for-17 for 153 yards and the game-winning touchdown pass.

O’Sullivan was The Reporter/Times Herald/Montgomery Media 2022 Football Player of the Year last fall. He threw for 2,831 yards and 36 touchdowns to just five interceptions while leading the Cardinals to a 14-1 record with Suburban One League Continental Conference and District 1-5A championships and an appearance in the PIAA-5A state semifinals.

The three-year starter threw 5,248 yards and 61 touchdowns in his career. He won district championships in 2020 and 2022.

Upper Dublin defensive lineman Kyree Butler also played in the Big 33 Football Classic. The Kutztown University commit recorded two tackles.

The Big 33 Football Classic features the top players from Pennsylvania against the top players from Maryland. Known as “The Super Bowl of High School Football,” the Big 33 Football Classic originated in 1957.
