Highlights: Evan Wittig earned the win for the Indians by pitching a complete game, working around five hits and two runs with two strikeouts in the District 1-4A semifinals. Upper Perkiomen will face Pioneer Athletic Conference Frontier Division foe Pope John Paul II in the District 1-4A final at Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth on Friday at 4 p.m.

Third-seeded Upper Perkiomen scored two runs in each of the first two innings, enough to outlast No. 2 Holy Ghost Prep. Braden Reig opened the scoring with an RBI single and went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Drew Graf (2-for-4, two RBIs), Isaac Bugman (2-for-4, run, RBI), Devlin Kranich (2-for-4, two RBIs) and Evan Sands (2-for-3, two runs) joined Reig in recording multiple hits for the Indians.

Isaac Acosta led the Firebirds at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Justin Lucas started for Holy Ghost Prep and struck out two with five hits over two innings. Alex Hubbard pitched the following five innings and finished with one strikeout and five hits allowed.

Perkiomen School 12, Friends’ Central 2

Highlights: Erick Diaz went 3-for-3 with two home runs and three RBIs while Cesar Lopez (1-for-2, four RBIs) and Nate Romberger (3-for-4, two RBIs) also hit home runs as well, leading the No. 5 Panthers to a PAISAA quarterfinal win. Shane Baird earned the win with just three hits allowed in 4.1 innings.

Perkiomen School will travel to top-seeded Springside Chestnut Hill on Thursday, TBD in the PAISAA semifinals.

SOFTBALL

Upper Perkiomen 2, Nazareth Academy 0

Madalyn Dyer dazzled with a 15-strikeout, 1-hit shutout performance in the circle to send Upper Perkiomen past Nazareth Academy and into the District 1-4A championship game.

Upper Perk (17-6) will meet No. 1 seed Villa Maria in the final Thursday, 4 p.m. at Methacton.

Upper Perk needed only a pair of second inning runs to get the win. Dyer led off with a double followed by Ashley Forrest’s RBI single driving in courtesy runner Emma Davidheiser. A Morgan Robinson single got runners on first and second. Maddy Deeble (double) reached on an error, bringing home courtesy runner Grace McKeehan.

Jill DiMario went six innings for Nazareth, allowing one earned run on five hits with three strikeouts.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Upper Moreland 19, Pope John Paul II 3

Third-seeded Upper Moreland will host No. 7 Mount St. Joseph in the District 1-2A semifinals Thursday at 7 p.m.
