DLN Roundup: Big rally powers Rustin past Oxford

The West Chester Rustin baseball squad scored all of its runs in the fourth inning and went on to edge Oxford 4-3 in Ches-Mont action on Monday. Kyle Kearns scattered five hits, fanned 10 and allowed two earned runs in five innings of work for the Knights. Bill Kraft and Owen Crowe drove in runs for Rustin. Asher Williston and Ben Palita each had two hits for the Hornets.

Softball

Oxford 12, West Chester Rustin 1 >> The Hornets received a solid game at the plate (two hits, two RBI) and from the circle (7 innings, four hits allowed) from Cece Figueroa. Teammate McKenna Frank chipped in with three hits and four runs batted in. Olivia Garner notched two hits to pace the Knights.

Avon Grove 9, Coatesville 3 >> Trailing by a run, the Devils rallied for seven runs in the third and fourth innings and went on to win a Ches-Mont contest. Ana DiCampli doubled, homered and drove in three runs to lead Avon Grove, and Meg McKeown earned the win in the circle. Olivia Springer had two hits, including a triple, for the Raiders.

Unionville 11, Kennett 1 >> The Longhorns broke open a 3-1 battle through four innings with nine runs in the fifth and sixth. Julie Matsinger had two hits and drove in three runs and teammates Ella Monthei went 4-for-4 to lead Unionville. Ria Rossman chipped in with two hits and two RBI for the ’Horns. April McDonald had a double for the Demons.

Downingtown West 6, West Chester East 2 >> The Whippets topped the Vikings behind a complete-game pitching performance from Addy Carter. She scattered six hits, fanned nine and allowed one earned run. Jaylyn McIntyre, Taylor Hendricks and Joella Seese each had two hits to lead West.

Mighty Macs in NCAA Tournament >> The Immaculata baseball team found out on Monday afternoon that they will be heading to the Shenandoah (Va.) Regional for the NCAA Tournament starting on May 19th. Immaculata will be joined in the four-team regional pod by host nationally-ranked Shenandoah, nationally-ranked Christopher Newport, and The College of New Jersey.

The Mighty Macs earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Regional Tournament after capturing their second consecutive Atlantic East Conference title defeating Cabrini 6-0 last Saturday.

The Mighty Macs will play Christopher Newport on Friday at 2:30 PM at Kevin Anderson Field at Bridgeforth Stadium in Winchester, Va. This will be the Macs second meeting of the season with Christopher Newport, having defeated the Captains 12-6 on March 5th.
