DLN local roundup: Rustin boys lacrosse team rolls to victory

The West Chester Rustin High School boys’ lacrosse team defeated West Chester Henderson, 10-2, Wednesday. The Golden Knights were led by Jake Jackson (two goals, two assists), Marek Seaman (two goals, two assists), Nate Pechin (two goals, one assist), Aaron Cotter (two goals), Billy Carney (eight saves) and Mack Thompson (won seven of nine faceoffs). Matt Twohig scored both Warriors goals, and Henderson goalie Giules DiLiberto recorded 15 saves.
Bishop Shanahan 11, Great Valley 2 >> The Eagles were led by Devin Mullen (three goals, five ground balls), Joe Devine (four goals), Ronan Miller (two goals, two assists, won 11 of 15 faceoffs),Colin Gaffney (two goals, one assist) and Ben Rodner-Tims (seven ground balls).
Kennett 18, Oxford 2 >> The Blue Demons were led by Zach Hulme (five goals), Bo Freebery (five assists), Colin Jung (four goals), Jackie Good (one goal, two assists), Ian Guyer (three goals) and Colin Kelly (won 18 of 24 faceoffs).
Downingtown East 9, Coatesville 5 >> For the Red Raiders, offensive leaders included Owen Ellis (one goal, one assist), Derek Cooper (one goal), Jake Van Orden (two assists), Mike Kennel (two assists) and Jake Van Orden (one goal). Coatesville goalie Dax Shallis recorded 20 saves.
Girls’ lacrosse
Conestoga 18, Strath Haven 10 >> The Pioneers (4-1) were led by Kate Galica (seven goals, six draw controls, two caused turnovers), Ellie Wisch (three goals, three draw controls), Keating Hopkins (two goals) and Chloe Brown (four draw controls, one goal).
West Chester East 7, Sun Valley 5 >> The Vikings were led by Audrey Argonish (three goals, two caused turnovers, three ground balls, two draw controls), Molly Smeins (three goals, two ground balls, three draw controls), Lucy Daley (four ground balls) and Madelyn Morris (seven saves).
Downingtown East 12, Coatesville 5 >> The Cougars were led by Eileen Hewitt (three assists, one goal, two caused turnovers), Cameron Yard (three goals), Lexie Conte (three goals, four draw controls), Riley Marks (two goals, four draw controls), Jayne Michaels (three assists, two draw controls) and Finley Mulhern (two interceptions, two draw controls). Avery O’Hara and Paige McKim each scored two goals for Coatesville.
Kennett 15, Oxford 4 >> In the Hornets’ loss, Oxford got goals from Alexis Reinard, Olivia Voss, Ava McGlothlin and Ava Soucek. Reinard also won five draw controls.
Boys’ tennis
Downingtown West 7, Kennett 0 >> Whippet winners in singles were Leo Shi (first singles), Cash Bailey (second) and Jack Sheldon (third). Doubles winners, all in straight sets, were Rachit Bajpai/Aditya Kadiyala (first), Ronish Padhy/Akshit Arunachalam (second), Aakash Kalmady/Ayush Karkare (third) and Alexander Sheldon/Samarth Kolanupaka (fourth).
Softball
Methacton 5, Unionville 2 >> Shannon Megill had both of the Longhorns’ two hits. Unionville committed six errors, and Longhorn pitcher Madison Parisi allowed no earned runs.
Baseball
Downingtown West 5, Kennett 4 >> The Whippets won this contest, a completion of an earlier suspended game, in 11 innings. Quin Dowds hit a walkoff single and Jake Mello pitched five shutout innings of relief.
