Mercury roundup (March 27): Pope John Paul II baseball rallies past Cardinal O’Hara

Pope John Paul II 8, Cardinal O’Hara 7

Highlights: Up one run, Pope John Paul II was dealt a five-run inning by Cardinal O’Hara in the bottom of the sixth before responding with five runs of its own in the following frame to go the distance in non-league play. Frank Dimaio went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored to help push the Golden Panthers past Cardinal O’Hara. Noah Brandt (2-for-4) drove in two and plated a pair of runs. A.J. DiAddezio (2-for-4) also had a multi-hit game with an RBI.

Daniel Boone 11, Unionville 1

Highlights: Daniel Boone put up three runs in the first inning and two in the third before unloading six in the fifth to take a five-inning win over Unionville. Dylan Schueler allowed just one hit and one unearned run with five strikeouts over four innings of work for the Blazers. Anthony Cizmarik had two hits, two runs and four RBIs. Eli Rhoads went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs and an RBI. Ethan Rissmiller added a double at bat for Daniel Boone.

BOYS LACROSSE

Downingtown West 12, Perkiomen Valley 5

Highlights: Downingtown West bult a 7-1 halftime lead and cruised to a win over Perkiomen Valley from there. Patrick Lamirande had two goals for the Vikings while Bryce Coletta, Luke Hanlon and Noah Delo had a goal each. Delo won 12-of-20 faceoffs and scooped seven ground balls. Shea Fusco and Jackson Baker each had one assist for Perkiomen Valley. Jack Leddy finished with nine saves.

Upper Merion 17, Devon Prep 5

Highlights: Kevin Roseland put away six goals to lift Upper Merion over Deon Prep. Andrew Haney scored a hat trick while Ryan Becker added one goal and went 20-of-26 in faceoffs. Justin Besz tallied five assists with a pair of goals and Casey Lamey (three assists) also scored twice. Collin McCormick (two assists) and Lincoln Jones both found the back of the net once apiece for the Vikings and Nathan Uhl had nine saves in net.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Wilson 11, Spring-Ford 6

Highlights: Riley Czapor led the Rams with two goals in a loss to Wilson while Alexis Sowers and Hailey Mozi added one as well. Gianna DiBattista added a goal, an assist and a pair of draw controls. Lindsay Evak had two draw controls and Ilyana Jones came up with 12 saves in net for Spring-Ford.
