DLN roundup: Conestoga girls lacrosse team wins season opener

The Conestoga High School girls lacrosse team won its season opener Friday, defeating Bishop Shanahan, 14-3. The Pioneers were led by Kate Galica (five goals, four draw controls, four ground balls, six caused turnovers), Chloe Brown (three goals, five draw controls), Ellie Wisch (three goals, two caused turnovers), Kiki Liebezeit (two goals, two assists) and Piper Kienzle (two assists). Shanahan goals were scored by Annabelle Wiedel, Silvia Baptista and Stella Dambro.

Oxford 18, Chichester 6 >> In this victory, Alexis Reinard (five goals, seven assists) scored her 100th career goal and Mackenzie “Clarky” Clark (one goal scored) achieved her 100th caused turnover. Both players are the first in the Oxford program to achieve these milestones. Other contributors in the win included Kylie Quin (three goals, one assist), Olivia Voss (three goals), Gwynn Taggart (two goals, one assist), Ava McGlothlin (two goals) and freshman Mackenzie Taylor (two goals, one assists).

Boys Lacrosse
Lower Merion 9, West Chester Henderson 6 >> Sean Surowiec had a hat trick for the Warriors, and single goals were scored by Henderson players Max Abrahams, Seamus Murphy and Ryan Prete. Goalies Giules DiLiberto and Luis Galan combined for 10 saves.
Boyertown 14, Kennett 13 >> The Blue Demons were led by Zach Hulme (nine goals), Colin Jung (three goals, two assists), Bo Freebery (four assists, one goal) and Josh Holt (seven saves).

Boys Tennis
Downingtown West 7, West Chester Henderson 0 >> The Whippets won all three singles matches and three doubles matches by straight sets. Singles winners were Leo Shi (first singles), Cash Bailey (second) and Jack Sheldon (third).

Softball
Owen J. Roberts 4, Unionville 2 >> The Longhorns’ attack was led by Addison Smith (2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs) and Grace Levendis (2-for-3 with a double). Ella Monthei had some standout defensive catches in right field for Unionville, while Longhorn pitcher Madison Parisi struck out seven batters and allowed no earned runs.
