Kyle Beller, who spent 12 seasons with multiple Lehigh Valley Football programs, has been named the 9th head coach of the Pennridge High School football program.
Beller was officially announced as both the new Head Football Coach and Pennridge High School faculty member when he was approved by the Pennridge School Board during the official monthly meeting on Monday.
Beller’s most recent coaching experience at Whitehall High School from 2020 to 2022 was as defensive coordinator as he helped lead the Zephyrs to the 2022 District 11-5A championship and a quarterfinals appearance in the PIAA 5A Tournament.
Beller replaces Chuck Burgy who coached one season for the Rams.
“After conducting an extensive search we are excited to welcome Kyle to the Pennridge Ram family. It was important to find a partner who was committed to driving our football program to Suburban league success while embracing the Pennridge community and our student-athletes,” said Pennridge High School Director of Athletics Scott Hegen. “We had 20 Head Coach applicants from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Iowa. During his interview process, we quickly learned how Kyle cares about his players and is committed to their growth and development into champions and the coaches we spoke to about him reinforced what we thought.”
Beller, who was also a four-year starter and team captain at linebacker for Delaware Valley University, explains how his coaching experience at varying grade levels, multiple positions, and adversity with teams has been the backbone of his experience.
“I believe that the Pennridge football program can be a very competitive program in the Suburban One League with the amount of student athletes, facilities and support from administration and the community. I am extremely excited and thankful to have this new opportunity and am most excited about meeting the team and getting started.
“I started coaching at Nazareth school district under the legend Whitey Williams and I coached two years at the Middle School. During the second year as the head coach we turned around a 0-9 team to 8-2. From there I was promoted to the varsity level and coached linebackers for Mark Madson.
“In 2012, I became the head coach of Dieruff High School, my alma mater. We turned around a team that was on a 30-game losing streak to a .500 team within two years. I then had stints at Bethlehem Catholic as the secondary coach and then the last two years I was the defensive coordinator at Whitehall High School where we won the district finals and made it to the semifinal of state playoffs.
“The last four years, with having the chance to coach late into the playoff season, I gained the knowledge of helping to prepare and maintain the excitement throughout the year for the players and also how to keep the players bodies fresh to be at their best late in the playoff season.”
Beller’s gridiron experience is only one part of what he brings to “The Ridge.
Beller will also bring his 22 years of Business classroom experience to Pennridge High School students. He has gained extensive classroom experience since he started with the Nazareth School District in 2002. About his family, Beller says he has all the support he needs to succeed at home as well.
“I have the pleasure of having a wonderful coach’s wife that supports my ambitions in Lynn Beller and we have three great kids: Kylie, who is a junior at Widener University; Karter, a junior and Kacee, a freshman at Saucon Valley.”
The media and community will have the opportunity to meet Beller and discuss the future of the Pennridge football program during a meet and greet session on Thursday at 6:30pm, in the Pennridge High School LGI room.
